Mine updated to 1.9.11 and I have the no books issue. If I try to connect over WiFi to download books it just downloads another update then tries to install but I still have 1.9.11. When I looked at the wifi storage via PC there is nothing there, no .kobo directory or anything else. I was thinking of giving it to someone as I use a newer device but would still like to fix it if someone could send me the image for the WiFi.

Thanks very much flyboy320. I have downloaded the image and used win32diskimager to write it to the sdcard and I now have a working wifi again.

I have an N289. Do you have an SD image for that model? Would appreciate a copy. Thanks.

If I replace the microSD, do I have to replace it with a 1gb card? Gergith (the Kobo Glo link) uses a 32gb Class 10 microSD. Could I use a larger size microSD on my N289? 8GB, 16GB, 32GB? I doubt I'd go to Class 10. Don't think my eReader could take advantage of the speed. My N289 is very iffy about recognizing my external SD card. It would be nice not to have to bother with it.
Thanks for your help. This is a challenging but interesting thread. Last edited by Spode; 11-14-2014 at 01:58 PM. |

Just an update: I had the 'no books found' problem on a Kobo wifi N647 and flashing a different image to the internal SD card fixed the problem (thanks flyboy320!). In my case it wasn't just the books not appearing - the whole .kobo directory was missing. I don't think there's any way to fix this problem apart from reimaging the internal SD card.
I had tried lots of things, but I suspect the problem may have been that the Kobo wasn't mounting the fat32 partition properly on its internal SD card. I tried manually recreating a .kobo directory and adding KoboRoot.tgz, KoboReader.sqlite, etc but the Kobo didn't seem to recognize these at all. Looking at the rcS script, I can only assume the mount command was failing somehow. E.g. I'd expect Kobo to automatically recreate the .kobo directory, but this wasn't happening. mount -t vfat -o iocharset=utf8 /dev/mmcblk0p3 /mnt/onboard ... if [ ! -e /mnt/onboard/.kobo ]; then zcat /etc/images/one_moment_please.raw.gz | /usr/local/Kobo/pickel showpic mkdir -p /mnt/onboard/.kobo tar zxf /usr/local/Kobo/db.tgz -C /mnt/onboard ... fi The strange thing was the actual SD card storage seemed to still work OK when I plugged the Kobo into my PC and transferred files to it manually. |

i, I have kobo ereader wifi, I have this strange failure where my data was corrupted. At the first stage all my books collection just disappeared. When I opened kobo drive all folders including main folder .kobo were deleted. I tried to restore it to factory settings but after I run this operation the screen started to freeze on "updating the software" message. I tried different solutions to restore or reset the device but it doesn't fixing a problem. Now the computer doesn't see the device same as kobo desktop app My question is:
Is it possible to download a firmware and install it manually through sd card ? Or maybe you know any other solutions ??? |

Just out of curiosity. Most Kobo readers have a 1gb internal microSD card. Why are the images. so generously provided here, almost 2gb in size? Is it a Linux conversion issue?
I just got a great deal on an N647. Could someone send me an N647 image? I'd like to have it as a backup. (I'd rather not open the eReader to make by own image. If I decide to do this at some point, would the image copied off a 1gb microSD card be larger than 1gb? Thanks for all your help and patience. |
