I'd be happy to pay a price for an e-book consistent with the costs, so long as they didn't include the imprint costs too. Seems perfectly reasonable, I just want to pay for what I actually get, not for things I'm not getting.

Which raises the question: What if there were no paper version? With no direct comparison, how would you decide what's reasonable?

Well, then I s'pose it'd come down to how much a story was worth to me, I think Baen's approach of no more than $6 is probably in line with my thinking on it, but I'm open to entertaining discussion on it.

I guess I'm thinking of the model of various instructional books about programing and such (think o'reilly, or sams teach yourself). These books usually have vast amounts of their content either online or on a cd enclosed with the book. Of course, that is an aid to the person learning to program, so they don't have to type in all the examples in the books by hand (although I've found that to be good experience.) But the book is still only $20, cheaper than the latest, apparently unedited fiction book I downloaded from connect.
