Sometimes I stick it out thinking this has to get better, especially if I bought the book. Now that I'm checking so many books out from the library for free, I don't mind giving up on a bad book.

I am trying to read Kiss the Girls by James Patterson but one line that keeps repeating is about to drive me nuts.
The line Is tick-cock.
Not sure the rest of the story is good enough to keep reading.

You should really look into The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Time Sale. Definitely my favorite standalone Batman of all time. I do not like Miller's Batman either, so maybe some luck with this one.

Thanks, I might just do that. I need something to clear my brain from this.

The thing is I really liked Miller's Daredevil Man without Fear graphic novel so I was hoping it would carry over. Well, lesson learned.

I figured out a way. I just skip the killer chapters and focus on the Cross chapters.

I dropped that book once upon a time.

How's that working though? I don't really see how it would work narratively to be skipping half the chapters? I'm genuinely curious.

Actually it doesn't seem to be losing much. Just whatever torture might be happening.
Note:I skipped the chapter where Kate actually kicked the killer and had drugged her but since it was retold in the next chapter nothing really lost.

Finished The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt's New World by Andrea Wulf. A fascinating look at the 'world's last polymath' and the man who inspired such greats as Darwin, Thoreau, Marsh, and Muir.

Now I am well into Serafina and the Twisted Staff by Robert Beatty
