oh, right ! the weather here. well, it's cold, but currently not raining and in fact there's even some sunshine, apparently ! it really makes it hard for me to be motivated to get any work done.

We're supposed to get a snow/rain mix tomorrow. Ryleigh is kind of bummed because she heard the weather report on the radio that said they were expecting a 1-3 inch accumulation. Unfortunately, the radio station is in a town with a slightly higher elevation, so they usually get more snow than we do. She was none to happy when I had to explain that to her.

We're actually getting quite a bit of snow! Ryleigh, needless to say, is thrilled. Me, not so much. My nephew is supposed to be flying into DC today for the game tomorrow and we are planning to take him out to dinner this evening. I'm afraid with all the snow, that their flight will be delayed and we won't be able to see him.

Wow, that was scary! There was something cold on the cars and plants, looked like powdered sugar, but it was cold and crystalline. Luckily we had plenty of bread and milk, it could have been bad. Now the sun is shining and the frozen dust has liquified.

I was let off from work about noon yesterday and sped home to take my hoomin for a car ride (yes!) to the park. Afterwards, I went to the grocery store because I felt the sudden urge to make some hot chocolate or wassail, bake some cookies, and I also had a strange urge to buy some eggs (why??). Was I alone in those thoughts? Certainly not! Apparently, snow in Houston is sufficiently rare (four events in the past 22 years that I remember of which this was by far the longest and most dramatic), to cause other people to have similar urges. By 2 pm, the hot chocolate mixes were all gone (except for the fat free variety - yuck!), the apple cider was gone, and I picked up one of the last few cartons of eggs. But there were plenty packages of Nestle Tollhouse cookie dough - yay!!
