I'm very excited, because the interview I taped a couple of weeks ago with BBC Radio Jersey is airing this Wednesday 9 September on The Morning Show, along with an interview with the Curator of Art at Jersey Heritage, Louise Downie, author of a great book about Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore and their photography. It will be available online for a week.

I started reading "A Monster's Notes"; I haven't gotten into it yet.

Just finished 'Preswick' by David Hough which was a great read offered free to MR members by Neil from BeWrite books. One of the best suspense thrillers I have read this year.

It's not that I don't plan on reading it Maybe towards the end of the month. I want to read 200 books by the end of the year, and in order to do that I have to read 18 books a month.

Just finished 'Worst Fears Realized' by Stuart Woods. Good read. Not his best but still a good read.

Next 'The Bait Shack' by Harry Hughes. This was one of the freebies offered by Neil Marr

It was a very unorganized, but enjoyable novel. This was my first encounter with him, and I've just bought another one by him for my Kindle2.

If you like Murakami, then you MIGHT enjoy Mitchell. There are a lot of wonderful moments and some incredible writing but, as I said, the parts don't actually coalesce into one coherent whole. Having said that, though, I was so impressed by the writing - which has a very post-modern approach to the novel's construction - that I joyfully purchased another book by him.

There's a lot of dreaming by the character (true to the title of the book), and a lot of imagistic writing that is off-the-wall and enjoyable. This is NOT Murakami, but Mitchell shares some common motifs with Murakami.

Number9Dream is the one David Mitchell book I haven't read yet (it's sitting on my Sony waiting for me). I'm hoping the one you picked up to read next is Cloud Atlas (or Ghostwritten—both are excellent, but CA is a lot better) and not Black Swan Green. BSG is decent, but it's definitely his most conventional book by far.

As far as post-modern novel structure goes, I'm in the middle of Iain Banks' The Bridge right now, which definitely has a similar disjointed feel to it. We'll see how it comes together in the end. I remember reading that Banks considers this his most "literary" novel, and I can certainly see why from what I've read. There are enough interesting things going on that I may have to reread it again before too long.

Reading Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane right now but I'm almost finished. Now there is a fun page turner... I'll be done this one by tonight and then...not sure what's next. Have to see how the mood strikes me as I have a good 20 books purchased and panting to be read.

I've just finished Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower. It was pretty good, but not as good as I expected. Now I'm reading Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale.

I agree about "Parable of the Sower". It was OK, but nothing to cause me to want to re-read it.

Just bought Pratchett's Discworld books today, "Pyramids" and "Eric." Looking forward to the chuckles!

Started reading Charlie Huston's _Caught Stealing_... another freebee I have had sitting on my Kindle for a while now. I recently read it was a "Hard Boiled" Mystery that is quite good. I love a good mystery, lets hope it holds up to the reviews. (An I have the next two in the same "series" also just in case they are needed)
