On the other hand, if you haven't used Google Nav I highly recommend at least trying it out before you find yourself in a situation where you actually need it (where we were last night was bereft of any place to stop for directions). It does voice nav and turn-by-turn but I leave the voice nav off since it's somewhat slow to respond from what I understand (and I wouldn't hear it in my truck anyway).

I had to use the voice nav yesterday, because I pretty much can't drive and look at my phone too, and I don't have a dash mount either. Once you have a GPS fix (which admittedly is a bit of a problem on my LG Ally), the voice nav is actually pretty responsive. It kept up with me fine, and even got me into the correct lanes to turn in plenty of time. It seems to work as well, or maybe even better, as VZ Navigator, which I used for a couple of years before I got this phone.

The Ally is nice, as is the Cosmos. VZ Nav, not so much. Might work farily well, I don't know; I refuse to pay for it
