Lucy Parker's London Celebrities series is one of a few contemporary romance series I like, and I like it lot.

The fifth and most recent tile in the series, Headliners, has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. So I'm happy...

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WMQ6K77
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/headliners-2

Spoiler:
Quote:
“A superb contemporary romance. Parker’s readers, new and returning, are sure to find this one hard to put down.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review

Sparks fly when two feuding TV presenters are thrown together to host a live morning show in Lucy Parker’s latest enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance.

He might be the sexiest man in London, according to his fan site (which he definitely writes himself), but he’s also the most arrogant man she’s ever met.

She might have the longest legs he’s ever seen, but she also has the sharpest tongue.

For years, rival TV presenters Sabrina Carlton and Nick Davenport have traded barbs on their respective shows. The public can’t get enough of their feud, but after Nick airs Sabrina’s family scandals to all of Britain, the gloves are off. They can barely be in the same room together—but these longtime enemies are about to become the unlikeliest of cohosts.

With their reputations on the rocks, Sabrina and Nick have one last chance to save their careers. If they can resurrect a sinking morning show, they’ll still have a future in television. But with ratings at an all-time low and a Christmas Eve deadline to win back the nation’s favor, the clock is ticking—and someone on their staff doesn’t want them to succeed.

Small mishaps on set start adding up, and Sabrina and Nick find themselves—quelle horreur—working together to hunt down the saboteur…and discovering they might have more in common than they thought. When a fiery encounter is caught on camera, the public is convinced that the reluctant cohosts are secretly lusting after one another.

The public might not be wrong.

Their chemistry has always been explosive, but with hate turning to love, the stakes are rising and everything is on the line. Neither is sure if they can trust these new feelings…or if they’ll still have a job in the New Year.

Just This Once is the first in the Escape to New Zealand series by Rosalind James, which is my favorite of her series. It is free right now at Kindle US and UK. There was an omnibus of the first three titles on sale a while back, but this is free, so who cares if you have the omnibus too. (And sometimes it's easier to read separate titles, and I'm too lazy to separate them from an omnibus...)

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0094KJ70G
Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0094KJ70G

Spoiler:
Quote:
Audie nominee, Best Romance Audiobook, 2015

Everyone needs to be rescued sometimes.

Everyone but Hannah Montgomery, that is. She just needs a vacation. Three weeks in New Zealand to sort out her life, figure out what she wants, seems just right. Oh, and to relax. She should definitely put that on the agenda. She certainly isn’t looking for a sexy fling with a professional rugby player, no matter how attractive he is. Hannah doesn’t do casual. But maybe just this once ...

As much as he’s shared with Hannah, Drew Callahan has kept one very big secret: that he's the captain of the All Blacks, New Zealand's international rugby team, not to mention the best-known rugby player on earth. And learning the truth, now that she’s back home again, has made Hannah warier than ever. Drew knows that she’s right for him. But how can he convince her to let down her guard enough to explore what they could have together?

Note: This romance, like New Zealand, contains some steam. If that isn't your cuppa, you may want to visit another country ... er, book.

One Woman's Junk (Psychic Consignment mysteries #1) by JB Lynn. Posted today on her Facebook page: If you haven't read ONE WOMAN'S JUNK, it's now FREE for a limited time!

I've read most of her books, including this Psychic Consignment series (3 books so far).
I found this author through her Confessions of a Neurotic Hitwoman series. These are strange but fun adventures/cozy mysteries with romance and a sprinkling of the supernatural. This author gets a big recommendation from me.

[QUOTE=worktolive;4013774]Repeat by Kylie Scott is $0.99. I loved this book. The plot is based on amnesia but in this case, there's no expectation that the heroine will ever regain her memory so it's a different twist on the usual amnesia plot.

I am listening to this on Audible Escape and it is very enjoyable! Thank you for mentioning it.

Not my thing, but apparently the thing of a lot of people...

The first book in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, titled Twilight , is a Kindle UK Daily Deal today at £0.99.

link: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Twilight-...dp/B002RI97MK/

Spoiler:
Quote:
When 17 year old Isabella Swan moves to Forks, Washington to live with her father she expects that her new life will be as dull as the town.

But in spite of her awkward manner and low expectations, she finds that her new classmates are drawn to this pale, dark-haired new girl in town. But not, it seems, the Cullen family. These five adopted brothers and sisters obviously prefer their own company and will make no exception for Bella.

Bella is convinced that Edward Cullen in particular hates her, but she feels a strange attraction to him, although his hostility makes her feel almost physically ill. He seems determined to push her away - until, that is, he saves her life from an out of control car.

Bella will soon discover that there is a very good reason for Edward's coldness. He, and his family, are vampires - and he knows how dangerous it is for others to get too close.

FIRST IN THE GUILD HUNTER SERIES from “a major new talent” (CHRISTINE FEEHAN).
View our feature on Nalini Singh’s Angels' Blood.
Nalini Singh introduces readers to a world of beauty and bloodlust, where angels hold sway over vampires.

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux is hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael. But this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn’t destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break.

Does anyone know if Edie Harris ever published the fourth book in her Blood Money series, Thrilled?

I was waiting to read them since the overarching plot ends on a cliffhanger in each book, but I don't see book 4 listed anywhere and her website is gone.

It was originally set to be published by Carina back in 2016, but was delayed. I thought maybe she'd self-published it at some point since.

Is this the website you were trying? https://www.readedie.com/ It is a singularly uninformative site even by author standards.

No,she used to have http://edieharris.com/

That one is... I am at a loss for words.

But it does show the book with a new cover, so I suppose that is progress. Thanks!

My wife is moving to the same attitude towards Edie Harris as I have towards George R. R. Martin. We'll believe in the new books when they are being sold.

Spent most of my reading time the past few days doing a purge of my Calibre libraries. When I did the big purge back in 2011, I mainly targeted freebies and justified keeping many other titles with "but I paid for it so might read it someday". I'll admit a few titles like that remained this time too, but I tried to be more honest with myself this time around as to what books I actually hope to eventually read.

My TBR is out of control and even though it is now 99% digital and thus not taking up physical space, I felt as it was taking up space in my brain so the books I will never actually read (even though I paid money for them!) simply needed to go. It made me sad in some ways, but I feel better now.

Also debated deleting books already read by authors I won't buy again, but that seemed like making work for myself for no reason. In this case the "but it's a virtual shelf" argument won out. Still have way too many books in my TBR mountain, but I'm a reading addict so that's just life LOL. (FWIW, I deleted 220 books, mostly new to me but a small percentage were books I'd read but have now decided not to keep.)

~~~
Weekly Report:
Read:
  • A Touch of Stone and Snow (A Gathering of Dragons #2) by Milla Vane (A-/5 stars)
  • Second Chance Christmas by Mackenzie McKade (D+/2 stars)
  • Ripped by Sarah Morgan (C/2 stars)
Purchased:
I'd read A Heart of Blood and Ashes from the library but decided I wanted my own copy. And I bought the novella even though I own the anthology version as I only needed one more book to finish up my Penguin Random House rewards to get the $30 code.
Your experience reminds me so much of my own in 2014, when I did my last major cull. I deleted so many paid and unread books, it was heart-wrenching. Six years down the line, there a few I wish I had thought to keep but I'm still happy with my decision.
