The only other possibility that I could think of was an author who wrote one or more books and posted them free in the Patricia Clark Memorial Library.

Sounds like somebody don't need much help...

Personally I can support abridged versions of REALLY long books. I think there's room to trim in a 40+ hour long book.

I'm for there being the option for folks, as long as it's not the only option like in the old days of audiobooks. Some are definitely better than others of course. Taking a 40+ hour book and making it 8-9 hours is cutting an awful lot of content.
