One of the items on my "Least Favorite Things" list: Going down to the basement and finding a puddle of water under the pipes.


(It's just a pinhole leak. I was only able to find it by turning off all the lights and shining a flashlight until I found the stream, and followed it back to the source. Still, we weren't planning a plumber's visit.)

Actually, I gave the duct tape idea some thought, as a temporary fix. But I decided against it since I don't know if the adhesive residue would interfere with a real repair.

Yupperdoodle, the (various width) white teflon tape. Can fix almost anything. Not everything, mind you, but for pin-leaks and tightening up loose joins...super.
