Kobo µSD Card Image Requests

Hello, I would like the SD card image for Kobo N506 Clara 2E.
(Power LED is always solid after short press, not pulsating as usual during startup, one blink after each ~20 seconds, nothing else works, screen is frozen, long-long press appears to turn the reader off.)

mine goes to the computer setup/ wireless setup however both these functions won't work. I have tried different plugs for the usb won't detect on computer, wireless entry just keeps going back to setup again after entering details.. any idea?

Just wanted to say that mine Kobo Aura v1 is working again. Thanks to the image from DNSB. Big thanks appreciate it. Now can't connect to internet its says something about a hotspot and shows a weird message, but will figure it out. At least it's not a brick anymore. Thanks again!

I would like the firmware image for a Kobo N249 Clara HD, please

(Looks like it's my turn, the 2018 reader I carry in my jacket pocket got tired - blank screen and blinking light. Had been wonky before, but recovery used to work.)


UPDATE (may happen to someone else):

My Kobo revived itself apparently after the battery ran all the way down. I had left it blinking while waiting for the image, then noticed that the LED was off and a cover was back on the screen, instead of being blank. It had stayed blank during repeated turn-offs and long presses. For a couple of times the light had stopped blinking (including overnight), but it was still stuck in a blank screen and just started blinking again if pressed.

Battery was at 2% (must be the small bounce back after running down and resting). Now charging it, and seems back to its slightly wonky normal - reader works, USB connects etc.

Many thanks to DNSB, who meanwhile had sent in the image link. I think I'll need it one of these days, may as well prepare a replacement card at leisure ...

One suggestion is that you could remove the µSD card from your Glo, mount it on your computer, download the newest firmware, unzip it and copy the upgrade folder, the KoboRoot.tgz and the manifest.md5sum files to the .kobo directory on the µSD card. After installing the card back into your Glo, it should update.

Hi DNSB, need your help for another bricked kobo Clara Hd. A close friend dropped his device because "not working anymore", The screen shows last image, it is a "stand by" state on some book. Not sure what the problem is but no way to unlock it pressing any buttons.

Opened it, tryied to change battery with a new one but this was not the problem.
So I suppose SD problem.

When attached with a standard reader, rise a problem but it is still accessible showing files.

"version" file content is:

N2498B0347756,4.1.15,4.38.23038,4.1.15,4.1.15,0000 0000-0000-0000-0000-000000000376

Could be flashing a solution? many thx.

Could you please assist by providing a functional image for the Kobo N249 Clara HD along with a URL detailing the procedure for its implementation?

A friend asked me to help with her Kobo N249 Clara HD e-reader, which is no longer starting up. Here is the current situation:

• Symptoms: The e-reader does not turn on. The only sign of life is a blinking power button, and nothing is displayed on the screen.
• USB Connection: No device is detected when it is connected to a computer via USB.
• Reset Attempt: I tried a manual reset. The procedure seems to start: a loading icon briefly appears on the screen, but after a few minutes, the screen goes blank again, and the power button resumes blinking.

If the µSD card is still readable, it's not likely to be the cause of the problem.

Have you tried the Clara HD manual reset procedure?

After a manual factory reset, you'll need to set up and sync the Clara HD again.

1. Connect your eReader to a power source and charge it for at least an hour.
2. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds
3. Release the power button.
4. Hold down the power button. The power light should turn on.
5. Continue to hold the power button until the power light turns off then release the power button.
6. Your Clara HD should start the factory reset process. You should see a black screen that tells you the Clara HD is resetting. Do not turn off your Clara HD until the process is finished.

If the screen does not change during this process, it is unlikely that an image will help but I've sent you the link anyways.
