For some bizarre catly reason - when cats hide - and hear you calling them - they don't make a peep! Which causes nervous breakdowns in us!

KindleKitten, so glad to hear you got your cat back.

We have three here, just added the 3rd about 5 weeks ago as she was a wee lost 6mth old long hair ginger lost in the Aussie rural rough. Anyhow, we have ours all in an outdoor enclosure ( and indoors ) but I have to admit I barely go 15 minutes without having to do a full head-count check, day and night. I panic like no tomorrow if I can't find them within 30 seconds :|

Good news kk! Some people say putting butter on their paws stops them wandering, no idea why that should work, but I once got so desperate I put some on Dagny's paws after a move, and she didn't stray...

Thanks everyone! And yeah orlock I've done the butter thing with every move but in theory am done moving, just have to be on the lookout for adventurous kitties (who was incredibly mouthy all night btw)

Good to hear she's back. We're lucky we've always had cats that weren't interested in the outside.

When Lexie had just moved in with us (we found her in our basement) she climbed over the wall of the garden. A couple of days later I came across her in the neighbourhood and she was relieved I had found her and took her back home, she probably couldn't find her way back again.

I get this every single morning, from our big Coon, Zep. The little one, Storm (our "runt Coon," at a mere ~9-10lbs.) will give you a wee peck, more like an air-kiss, but Zep, (who is BIG, more than half if not twice again her size, and built like an English Bulldog with cat detailing) hell no--he has to thoroughly "clean" my face every morning to ensure I get up all nice and sparkly. It's certainly cheaper than dermabrasion, but probably not as sterile. ;-) Just to ensure I don't "miss out" on my daily facial, he plants himself on my sleeping chest, pins me down and gives me the once-over.

So: I know whereof you speak. I try really, really hard not to think of where that tongue has been. It helps not to consider the OTHER end of the cat.
