Smashwords is having their 'Read an Ebook' sale and there are some steep discounts. I'd recommend browsing through the books by one publisher in particular: Encyclopocalypse Publications. The specialize in horror of a certain type. Think schlocky eighties horror movies.

One thing they do in particular is put out new novelizations of old movies (and they republish old novelizations).

I already have their new novelizations of Vamp, Scared to Death, Titan Find/Creature and Wishmaster. I'm picking up their novelization of Manborg and really wish they had preorder so I could place one on the upcoming Attack of the Killer Tomatoes novelization.

They've also republished novelizations of Hardcore, Fright Night and Re-Animator.

Aside from movie related stuff, I'm picking up Something In The Groove, Yellow Line,
Miracle on 42nd Street and The Special. Check 'em out.

Dr., not sure if your and my interests align completely, but one of the Encyclopocalypse I'm really looking forward to reading is the nonfiction Empire of the 'B's: The Mad Movie World of Charles Band. I don't really care for Band's later Full Moon Pictures as I think they got too self conscious and campy. But there's something charming in many of Empire's schlocky/bad movies.

With a b-movie career spanning four decades, infamous producer/director Charles Band has been described as everything from 'The new Roger Corman' to 'The PT Barnum of Exploitation', released over 300 films, discovered Hollywood stars such as Demi Moore, Helen Hunt and Viggo Mortensen, and brought to our screens bona fide cult hits such as Tourist Trap, Re-Animator, Trancers, From Beyond and Intruder. That was one of my initial purchases of 13 titles. It looks like it might be a fun read.

I saw that film. A wonderfully horrible classic of bad acting, bad writing, and bad production. A classic for the discerning few.
