If it's a well used commuter route it's crazy that there's such a tight transition time.

When I worked at university, I parked in a remote lot that had a morning Express bus - It originated at that lot and didn't stop to let people on, only to let them off once it reached the campus. Thus the population was almost static, and the driver would stop for us without our having to ring the bell (there were only 4 drop off sites). One morning there was a substitute driver who absolutely would not come to a stop without hearing the bell - even when people stood up and shouted at her as she was barreling past their stop - nope - you had to ring that little bell.
So our crowd (doctors, university faculty, etc.) calmly retaliated by having everyone getting off at one stop ring the bell in turns ... one after the other after the other .... and then start over until the bus stopped ... Last edited by poohbear_nc; 06-20-2014 at 08:18 PM. |

Yesterday I ordered a bunch of craft stuff online which my local story doesn't have in stock. Usually this online store ships the order the same day when ordered and paid for before 9pm. This morning I hadn't received the "your order has been shipped" email so I checked the items I'd ordered and found out one of them is a pre-order item. Which means my whole order is delayed until that one item arrives. The pre-order item should arrive this month, so it should arrive in the next week and a half or so.
Not something to get upset about, really. But annoying, especially since yesterday I paid for a monthly subscription which won't be send for another two weeks and next week I'm going to order a planner (by Erin Condren) and because it's personalized and very popular it currently takes almost two weeks for it to be made and be ready to be shipped, which will also take a week or so. |

While it's no fun for pdurrant, that new driver just might have been following the rules to the letter. |

Isn't this the rule anywhere for most vehicles? Pretty sure it is here - no opening doors and getting in and out of vehicles unless the vehicle is properly in a stopping zone - not while temporarily stopped in traffic, and not while stopped at a red light. (And not while moving, obv, unless you're a garbo...) It's a great way to kill cyclists, jumping in and out of vehicles at red lights. I certainly wouldn't expect a bus driver to allow it.

My experience with bus drivers in recent years has been pretty good. Most are pretty nice and wait for a late running passenger, overlook a 5 minute late transfer let people with a sob story ride free etc.
There are a few who are just mean and pull away from a stop with someone running to catch the bus with a red light in front of them and passengers asking them to wait. Same in any occupation I guess. I have lived in and visited cities where 6 buses a day on a given route is the max and the wait is 2 or more hours. It is pretty upsetting to just miss a bus there I can tell you. Helen |

Thanks I appreciate it! And even though the early check in is grueling, I'd much rather stop drinking water at midnight and go in at five than stop at midnight and go in at noon. I'm pretty much ok with the no eating but no water! Yeegads and little fishes! I've reschedule because of that before
