No - Stanza does not understand mobi (that is a Kindle format) as far as I know. calibre2opds will definitely generate Stanza download links for ePub books.
Calibre can do mobi->epub conversions so getting epub format books for use with Stanza should be easy enough (assuming they are DRM free so Calibre can convert them). |

ahh...that is probably the problem...I think I was looking at specs on Stanza "desktop" which does support drm free mobi. So I will re-run everything tonight for epub.

It can be confusing. Stanza Desktop effectively has a built-in conversion engine from a number of formats, and it can then convert them to ePub for sending to the mobile variant, whereas the iPhone/iPad version does not.
I ignore Stanza desktop and use Calibre for this purpose. |

Yeah, I don't actually use Stanza desktop but when looking at specs must have seen "stanza" and "mobi" and didn't see the word "desktop" in between :> I sometimes speed read/glance over things too quickly. And I do I now use Calibre for all my conversion needs.

My experience differs. With the 2.3 update, I'm no longer having problems using the OPDS catalog with Aldiko, and can download fine.
I should note that I'm not using Aldiko compatibility mode, just OPDS. |

Can't download from catalog on Iphone
I have managed to install 2.3 and created an HTML catalogue on my laptop and a xml catalogue in stanza on my iphone. I can generate epub files on my laptop (where I don't really need to), but although I can see the catalogue in Stanza, and can see the book cover, I can't see the summary (which is visible in the HTML catalogue) nor download to my phone. Has anybody any idea what I have missed out? (PS I am using dropbox to store my library).
I also saw on another thread a question to which I also I wanted to know - whether the catalogue could be automatically updated as books are added to Calibre. Kovid answered and said that it would be easy to do with a plugin. Has anybody attempted to do this yet? How do I write a plugin that does this? PS I am not technically knowledgeable but try to follow instructions - three cheers for Jane's instructions on Dear Author. Rachel |

@Rachel
When running Calibre2opds did you select "STANZA" where it says compatibility level? I didn't do that and had the same problem :-) |

Hi folks,
There's a new user support forum for calibre2opds at GetSatisfaction... Still, would a mod change the title of this thread ? I've been asking this for ages ! |

I've asked several times that this thread be named "calibre2opds" instead of the old program name...
But now I've got some other requests about this thread that I'd like to discuss in private ![]() |

Would appreciate help with Calibre2Opds on Windows XP Pro SP3 with automatic updates, Java version 1.6.0_19. When I install v2.3, it does not create an icon in my Start menu or on the Desktop. If I issue rungui.cmd at the command prompt, nothing happens. If I issue run.cmd, I get error messages. For more details, please see my post here.
Thanks for any help. |

The correct instructions for installing Calibre2opds are in the online documentation. This includes how to do a manual install if the installer is not behaving.
To look further at why you are having problems can you please do the following: - Start up a Command window (DOS Prompt) - Change the current directory to the location where the calibre2opds binaries are located - Use the RunGui.cmd command from that location to see what error messages (if any) are output. If you get an error message about the JaveW.exe program not being found which someone else ahs reported this seems to be caused by the Java installation not putting the Java binaries package on the Search path in the PATH environment variable. This problem can be fixed by manually adding the path to the Java binaries. If some other message is output then please report what it is. Note that the RUN.cmd file will not work correctly until you have managed to run the Gui at least once as it relies on information set up by the GUI to be present. I will see if we can output a sensible error message rather than a Java failure message if that information cannot be found. I am not sure that Calibre2opds was tested on Windows XP. There is no reason that I can see, however, why it should not run. I will see if I can find a Windows XP Virtual machine to reproduce your problems. |
