Hi, I'd like to enter the competition!

Why should I win? Well, I'm planning on taking a 10,000 mile bike from Kashgar (China) to Malaysia -- passing through Tibet, Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia. I've done a 3,500 km trip through Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam in the past and the two biggest problems were:

a) lugging around 5-6 books was exhausting when traveling through the mountainous areas.
b) it is hard to find books when you are in the middle of nowhere...

Another reason? Wouldn't you want to know how the reader performs at Everest base camp? I promise I'll post about it when I get there since it is one of the stops on my trip! Check out crazyguyonabike.com and look up tibet if you want to know more about the plan... there are trips similar to the one I plan to take.

Oh, I almost forgot... some of the areas I'd be passing through are off limits to foreigners so there is a small chance I could end up in a Chinese prison... a reader would certainly help pass the time!

Why should I win -- well I am the 227th poster on this thread, and everyone knows that 227 is my lucky number

I would like to enter but given I am no worthier than anyone else, I struggle with why I "should" win...but I can tell you why I would like to win.

While I have discovered the joys of using an ebook reader, I miss the fun in sharing books with co-workers and friends. I bought a Kindle for my mother so we could share, but I miss sharing with so many others.

If I won I would pick another Kindle that I could add to my account for friends and co-workers to borrow. Not only would this allow me once again share books with others I am close to but pass along the ebook reader experience as well (and perhaps get others to buy as well).

So if sharing books and the ebook Reader experience is a good reason, perhaps I "should" win.

I would like to enter the giveaway competition - why? Because, because, because, because, because...because of the wonderful things I does.

Plus, then I can hook my sweetie, Mom or sister up with a reader.

Cheers!

I can't say why I deserve to win, as I'm sure as hell no more deserving than other posters on this forum, but I sure would like to win. Why?

- Firstly, it is very unusual to have a competition that an "overseas winner" is allowed under the t&c's. So, why not me? You have to be in it to win it, as the British Lottery keeps on reminding us.

- Unlike many posters here I am bereft of an ebook reader, and I am not looking for an additional one to enhance somebody else's life. Thinking of this, maybe this selfishness is a reason not for me to be rewarded. This would be something for me, and me alone to enjoy..... unless the wife purloins it obviously, lol.

- I recently lost my job dear reader, and life's taunt is that while I have more time on my hands to savour such a device, I have less monies to actually buy one. Maybe Alanis and not Charlotte Bronte should have been my reference. Isn't that ironic?

- a win, a little piece of unexpected luck, would be the best thing to happen to me in quite some time.

If I win it would be wonderful, if I don't win then it's wonderful for whoever does. Life is sometimes a dice game but I and my nearest and dearest are happy and healthy, and that's most important. Without an e-reader I would still be able to read ebooks on my laptop and still enjoy the beauty of a wonderfully constructed sentence. A win would only enhance my reading by dragging it into the 21st century, not drastically change it. It would be a fortunate little bonus.

Thank-you for running a wonderful competition, and good luck to all.

I would like to win this drawing. I don't have an electronic reader of any sort and could use one, desperately!!! I'm a 33 year old college student with two children so I would never be able to get one by myself. Please!!!

The one and only reason to give that reader to me:

I could read some children's books to my newborn daughter. She was born June 10th, so just one day before this Giveaway Thread came to live.

And, yes, I will post a picture story of me reading fairy tales to my little lady called Paula Sophia.
But only if I win that giveaway.

I swear, it will be Paulas Reader - untils she is able to read I'll take care of it.

While I have an e-ink reader myself, I would adore a second one I could give as a gift to my mother. Her eyesight isn't what it used to be (she's had to have cataract surgery twice now) and she misses books terribly. She gets by to some extent with books-on-tape, but it's not the same thing at all. The ability to change her font size up to something larger would make all the difference.

Thumbs up Please pick me

I am officially entering the contest to win a new e-reader

* I think I should be the winner so I wont have to keep sharing mine with my college age daughter--who has now lost the charger!!!!!--(anyone have any help there????) so now neither of us can read

* I have three kids, but only my two daughters and I read often. My youngest (17) wants to share in the reader as well.

* I am a nurse in clinical informatics and our hospital system is doing a HUGE go live, so I could REALLY use a reader (with a plug) on the nights I have to cover the 7pm to 7am support shift. Most of my nursing staff do not need us ALL night long.

*I do not watch TV at ALL. I work, surf the net, embroider and READ as my hobbies. (yes, I know I have no life--I am good with what I have )

* I would be VERY greatful

I want to enter!

I should win, because..... well........ umm.......

I have been spreading the joy of ebook readers to others, I would like a "new" device, and I would then sell my current one for what I paid for it or less ($125) and make someone else very happy, not just me, or I might give it away for some cool reason - I could make it a door prize at work, etc..etc..
I would probably get a Sony 700, as I have never gotten to play with one, and am really curious as to the differences, although I reserve the ability to change my mind. And if I decided I preferred my 505, then I would sell or give away the "new" one, and spend any profits on more ebooks.
I feel kind of selfish, as I do already own a reader, and some people have better reasons for wanting one, however, I work at a daycare center and don't actually make that much and I found a reader I could afford, it has a dinged up corner where it was dropped, so what is stopping everyone else from doing the same?

Good luck to all, may random chance bless someone to win.

Mare

Ruth M. - If you don't win, you are close enough to Alabama to day trip to Scottsboro and visit Unclaimed Baggage - they usually have at least a few ebook readers around for less than retail.

Why I need to win an e-book reader

I need to win an e-book reader, specifically a Bookeen Cybook Gen3. And the foremost reason is that my wife will kill me if I buy another e-book reader. I have been an avid follower and early adopter of this technology, and have bought a RocketBook (still one of the best), 2 REB 1150s, a SoftBook, a HieBook, Sony Prs-500 and 505, Franklin eBookMan, palmpilots, ipod touches, and most finally a Kindle DX, which I am very impressed with.

I can't add more paper books to my library as I have no more room in my office, and some of my bookshelves are stacked 2 rows deep. So my library additions must be e-books. The Cybook looks like an interesting device, and I would dearly love to check it out- but my wife is not at all happy about my e-book reader purchases. She reads, but not much- had to get her a signed copy of The Joy Luck Club before she read it......and it was one of her favorite movies.

Anyways, I think we are about to see e-books take off; not only is more rational pricing appearing, but there will be real competition in the large-screen ebook readers. I have been waiting for a device like the Kindle DX for years; just wish in addition to pdf it displayed excel and word files. But I can always output to pdf, I guess- just one more step. My guess is that in 2 years, 8X10 devices will be commonplace, and cost under $200.

I'm entering the giveaway!

Why should you pick me?

-My 505 is always being taken by my wife leaving me without my book reader
-I've been reading on electronic devices since 1995 (my Newton MessagePad 110) and am fervent proponent of this
-There is no way I'm going to dig out my old Franklin EBM 911 to use as my book reader (yes, I actually bought one years ago).
-I recommend this site to my friends and colleagues looking for more info on e-book readers
-my birthday is coming up (June 21)

Thanks to all.

Cheers!

I would like to enter the give-away and get my hands on a Sony Reader PRS-700.

The last time I won any major prize was around 25 years ago (I won a SLR camera when the first portable VCR came out - that's how long it has been - BTW: I went with BETA! Go figure).

I have won the lottery though recently - I just cashed in that winning $2 ticket and bought 2/3 of gallon of gas! Thank god I played $5 worth!

I do feel I should when though because June 26th is my Birthday (born 13 minutes after Midnight - boy, that should have been an OMEN!) And this year I will be 50! (Some fool already sent me an AARP form). My sister-in-law thinks I would like a surprise party and have all my in-laws (I am so glad I get to cook for all my in-laws on my birthday while they soak in my pool!)

I could use the large print format to compensate for being in denile about needing bi-folcals. (Yes, I should have bought them but couldn't commit yet).

I would Tweet if I knew how and I would'nt know what to use a Facebook account for.

I would just rather enjoy the Mobileread website with a new Sony Reader!

Unhappy Please accept my Entry

Please choose me to win the Giveaway. It would help a major amount if i could win the Kindle DX. I would be able to not only get my college books on it, but the larger screen can help me see diagrams better. The reasons you should pick me... Well first off my life has been terrible for the past 2 years now with no joys left and several suicide attempts later... My parents have succumb to the bad economy although our family has suffered for years before this recent recession. The bills got so bad we lost our house in Ohio and had to desperately move to Alabama for work. The bills also caused them to use around 4,000 dollars of MY COLLEGE MONEY that was saved up. Right now i have no money in my name... All my friends and family were abandoned and left in Ohio, along with my amazing girlfriend whom i think is the one. Now i live in a really small house crammed in with my angry family. So you see I desperately need to win because it will significantly help me strive to do excellent in college, get a great career, move out, and with determination reunite with my love. Once I've achieved these things maybe my life will go well again? But until then this contest is what I have my fingers crossed for. Thank Google for desperate searching...
