It looks like the ComfortGaze feature is something E-Ink is working on for their newest color screens — not for the Clara 2E. rtiangha pointed to the source of this confusion (a familiar misinformation source). Sorry I brought it up.

Again the Libra 2 has ComfortLight. If there is too much blue light in it for your taste, you can take out as much as you like, make it as "white" as you like... |

And it is a shame that the Libra 2 doesn't have Comfortlight Pro. ![]() |

If Kobo wanted to, they could already let you adjust the light into a dark red color or whatever other color. If they don't want you to do that, ComfortGaze won't make any difference. Also, what is your argument? So you also believe, that less blue light somehow makes the light more white, like JSWolf thinks? Alhough we already have a technology, that lets you adjust the color temperatur even beyond white into yellow / orange, etc.? (And even more, if the manufacturer wanted to.) |

To the best of my knowledge, the only Kobo that might do what you say is the Kobo Aura One, which isn't one of "todays" ereaders; I believe it had RGB LEDs that you could set through developer mode. Quote:
Maybe we can agree that we have different criteria for removing blue light "as much as you like"? |

Ah, so the correct terminology is "ComfortLight Pro" not just "ComfortLight". Got it. Good thing you caught this. Must have confused a lot of people... ![]() You make no effort to understand what we are discussing here, so I am not going to make an effort to explain it to you again. |

Just as an aside for people who may still be confused, ComfortLight debuted on the Kobo Glo in 2012 and is basically just a glorified frontlight. ComfortLight Pro is the one that can change color temperature and debuted on 2016's Aura One, and according to the Dutch listing, is what is set to appear on the Clara 2E. ComfortGaze is a technology linked to E-Ink's color screens, and the only reason why the Internet thinks it's linked to the Clara 2E at the moment is because that badereader guy thinks it is.

After reading the Google translation of the Dutch product listing, I think this part:

But I think that ComfortLight Pro claims to do the same, which is why I think that guy is misleading everyone yet again with another misinterpretation. Regardless, apparently review samples and embargos have already gone out at least a couple of weeks ago, so I suppose we'll find out what the final specs are one way or another really soon. |

We'll only know for sure what type of front light the 2e will have once it's released.

Well, while we're killing time, I really do think there'll be a Deep Ocean Blue version of the reader, mainly because of the Part Number.
Consider the part number of the white Libra 2 is N418-KU-WH-K-EP while the black one is N418-KU-BK-K-EP. The old Libra H2O follows the same convention, with the white one being N873-KU-WH-K-EP and the black one being N873-KU-BK-K-EP. Finally, the Clara HD has N249-KU-BK-K-EP and it only came in black. Meanwhile, the Dutch site has the Kobo Clara 2E Deep Ocean Blue E-reader as N506-KU-OB-K-EP and I think the OB stands for Ocean Blue. I haven't been able to find anything on Google yet, but if things follow convention, I assume the black version will be N506-KU-BK-K-EP just like the other black models. |

I've attached a screen grab of the Ocean Blue cover. This is the color I think that some of the Clara 2E readers will use. (A semi-educated guess, but still just a guess.) Last edited by rcentros; 08-24-2022 at 09:48 PM. |

For what it's worth, BadE (using yet another new storefront) is advertising the Clara 2E for delivery by September 13th. In the blurb he's still pushing the ComfortGaze info but admitting that he doesn't have all the specs. I've seen these stated delivery dates slip by a lot on his sites in the past.

A gunmetal grey color would be lovely on an ereader.
The Ocean blue color is very similar to my likebook p78 color |
