The Developer Options were hidden by default many years ago in Android as a "safety measure": to enable them, you go to Onyx Settings (to make it easier) > "About" > "About Device" and tap seven times on "Build Number" (If I do it, it says in a toast "No need, you are already a developer". If you never did it, it may greet you in different ways.) This being done, you have the "Developer Options" as a menu voice in the original Android settings: there you have to tick the "USB Debugging" item. BUT, I think Onyx provided an alternative way: go to the "Application[s]" view and press Menu, then "Manage": there you have a "Apps" menu which contains: -- 'Unknown sources (Allow installation of apps from unknown sources)' -- 'USB debugging (Debug mode when USB is connected)' -- 'Manage apps (Manage and remove installed apps)' To make ADB work, the second one is what you want... |

Before attempting to run your command, I enabled USB Debugging, bur for some reason the command window in the ADB platform tools does not see the Note. Whenever I run the command "adb devices", all I get back is "List of devices attached" followed by... nothing. When I try the same procedure with my tablet or with my Max, the device shows up in the command window. In the status bar on the Note, it shows that it is in Debugging mode. It also shows that it is connected for usb file transfers. My laptop can also see the Note. It's just the command window in the platform tools which seems unable to see it. When I attempted to perform the same procedures with an older tablet, it also was unable to be seen by the command window. However, with that tablet, a message showed up indicating that Windows was unable to find an appropriate driver. So I suspect that the same thing may be happening with the Note even though I don't get the same message. |

So far the experience has been a bit of a mixed bag compared to my Sony digital paper. Two things I miss are the slight friction between the stylus and the screen on the Sony and the ability to erase by holding the pen button. I really hope mapping the button on the note pen comes soon.
On the note, I've found my hand writing is more legible and the ink seems to be more fluid. Not as many missed strokes as I had on the Sony. I feel as the note is much more responsive overall even when a2 is disabled. Android apps has been a huge help for me. Being able to pull notes down from the cloud apps and upload or share them on the fly has been a big help. Several times I've wanted to share notes or documents from my Sony without my laptop present and it's such a pain to get them to someone. To make matters worse, all devices in my company are encrypted with bitlocker so transferring files to a secondary drive and handing that to someone wasn't easy either. Overall happy with the purchase so far. The fact that onyx actually gets random updates out to the device is a big win. I've had the Sony since fall of last year and still not a single update from them. It's pathetic. |

You are all making me feel like I've made the right choice with my first ereader. I just wish they'd hurry up and get it to Amazon!

A2 finishes screen update faster than greyscale mode, but (feel apart) the device remains fast - the screen update mode does not change internal operation. (Just in case.)

Just in case it was not posted.
A workaround to install paid apps already bought is to installed them from a computer in your device, from the Google Play web site. |

Not knowing what the situation was, I had thought the problem was on Booxtor's end. Something wrong with his site. After all, I had been able to make other purchases both before and after my initial failed attempt to buy the Max. When I finally contacted the credit card company a few days later to find out what the situation was after having been assured by Booxtor that he was receiving and processing other orders through his site without any difficulty, they immediately removed the block and I was able to make my purchase. So I would contact your credit card company as something similar is likely happening. |

I placed my order this morning! I've had many ereaders, both for pleasure and work (I'm an ebook developer...), but this one looks really promising.
I hope it'll come with the protective cover. |
