Same here,seems amazon managed to optimize the code base abit,it's the best thing about the update imo,the cleaner UI is also a welcome improvement.

Shame the browser still crashes on 90% of websites!

Code may be more optimized now, less memory overhead which results in a smoother overall experience. Might also help with more battery life although not really an issue with Kindles to begin with. This is all speculation on my part based on what I've experienced so far but the responsiveness seems improved to me.

On a PW3, it's been the other way around. The fonts were darker before the update.

I don't get it. Those two devices are supposed to have the same display, so you'd think the update would have the same effect on both. Or.. it is only happening on the two specific devices I have seen and is not representative at all of how the fonts changed throught the update.

Weird! On your Voyage are all the original fonts darker, including Helvetica (which seems to be the focus of complaints)?

I'd kind of like to update to 5.7.2, but Helvetica is the best font for my eyes, and it would be really bad if it got thinner and lighter.

All of them were, yes. But now I have applied a fonthack and replaced Helvetica with another font anyway.

Same for me . I bought a Kindle PW 2 from second hand market some days ago and received in an old firmware version. It was a nightmare to enter my 30-40 characters long Wifi WPA key ! Had to press every key for almost a second and wait for the same time to get the key entered...

I upgraded to 5.7.2 and now the keyboard works smoothly, I just type without thinking and it gets my input without missing a key.

Hello everybody, I am new in this forum and have a PW3. Before upgrading firmware I would jailbreak it to have cover book as screensaver, custom fonts, epub reader.
Can someone link relevant posts?
Are there other interesting hacks?
After jailbreak, is it possible to go back to stock?

Ok, sorry for mistake.
My question about firmware version 5.7.2: in my actual firmwware, pushing a book using Calibre via email (MOBI), make the ebook not justified. This should be AFAIK a problem of ereader not able to justify MOBI format.
Workaround is to convert it to AZW3 and sideload with calibre (not possible pushing AZW3 via email) losing sync with other devices.
Has this been solved?

Helvetica is darker on mine after the update, that's the only one I use so I can't tell about the others.

However, after the update I checked Bookerly and it was lighter than Helvetica.

I think that bookerly always was lighter than helvetica.
