Lecturable also has other books marked down to 99 cents besides the one above (I think that they are all public-domain, as well). To see them, click here.

I wasn't fishing for thanks or compliments, I honestly wanted to know. I don't remember anyone saying anything about the book(let)s in the past. Was wondering if it was worth the little bit of trouble to post them. I know now. Thanks.

Learn How to Garden in an Urban Environment, with this Very Highly Rated Markdown.
A timely markdown for those in the northern hemisphere, as gardening season is upon us (and, for some, it may have already started).
Note that the book also has a number of recipes. That was the deal-maker for me. The book has beautiful photos! And, if the preview is any indication, the book is loaded with them. The Edible Garden: How to Have Your Garden and Eat It, Too. By Alys Fowler. Rated 4 1/2 stars, from 17 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $19.95; digital list price $13.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Viva Editions, publisher. 260 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Edible-Garden-...+Eat+It%2C+Too. Book Description In this timely new book, BBC star and Gardening World's thrifty and resourceful Alys Fowler shows that there is a way to take the good life and re-fashion it to fit in with life in the city. Abandoning the limitations of traditional gardening methods, she has created a beautifully productive garden where tomatoes sit happily next to roses, carrots are woven between the lavenders and potatoes grow in pots on the patio. And all of this is produced in a way that mimics natural systems, producing delicious homegrown food for her table. And she shares her favorite recipes for the hearty dishes, pickles and jams she makes to use up her bountiful harvest, proving that no-one need go hungry on her grow-your-own regime. Good for the pocket, good for the environment and hugely rewarding for the soul, The Edible Garden urges urbanites everywhere to chuck out the old gardening rules and create their own haven that's as good to look at as it is to eat. |

Agent Garbo: The Brilliant, Eccentric Secret Agent Who Tricked Hitler and Saved D-Day
by Stephan Talty is $2.99 at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Agent-Garbo-Br...ds=agent+garbo Below is the blurb: Before he remade himself as the master spy known as Garbo, Juan Pujol was nothing more than a Barcelona poultry farmer. But as Garbo, he turned in a masterpiece of deception that changed the course of World War II. Posing as the Nazis’ only reliable spy inside England, he created an imaginary million-man army, invented armadas out of thin air, and brought a vast network of fictional subagents to life. The scheme culminated on June 6, 1944, when Garbo convinced the Germans that the Allied forces approaching Normandy were just a feint—the real invasion would come at Calais. Because of his brilliant trickery, the Allies were able to land with much less opposition and eventually push on to Berlin. As incredible as it sounds, everything in Agent Garbo is true, based on years of archival research and interviews with Pujol’s family. This pulse-pounding thriller set in the shadow world of espionage and deception reveals the shocking reality of spycraft that occurs just below the surface of history. |

The Rescue Artist: A True Story of Art, Thieves, and the Hunt for a Missing Masterpiece
by Edward Dolnick http://www.amazon.com/Rescue-Artist-...=rescue+artist is $1.99 at Amazon. Below is the blurb: In the predawn hours of a gloomy February day in 1994, two thieves entered the National Gallery in Oslo and made off with one of the world's most famous paintings, Edvard Munch's Scream. It was a brazen crime committed while the whole world was watching the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Baffled and humiliated, the Norwegian police turned to the one man they believed could help: a half English, half American undercover cop named Charley Hill, the world's greatest art detective. The Rescue Artist is a rollicking narrative that carries readers deep inside the art underworld -- and introduces them to a large and colorful cast of titled aristocrats, intrepid investigators, and thick-necked thugs. But most compelling of all is Charley Hill himself, a complicated mix of brilliance, foolhardiness, and charm whose hunt for a purloined treasure would either cap an illustrious career or be the fiasco that would haunt him forever. |

Free, Highly-Rated Biography of Nelson Mandela.
My posting of this ebook does not mean that I agree with any political, or other positions of Dr. Mandela, or that I approve of any tactics employed by him because of those positions. I am posting it because Dr. Mandela was a significant historical personage of the twentieth century, and because of the high ratings and inexpensiveness of this ebook.
Nelson Mandela: A Life Inspired. By Gillian Kendall; Wyatt North. Rated 4 1/2 stars, from 15 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $10.99; digital list price $2.99; Kindle now $0.00. HarperCollins' $2.99 ebook selection for March. There are 13 of them. It's in celebration of Women's History Month. You did know that it was Women's History Month. Didn't you? ha I don't know about you, but I'm still winding down from the partying and all of the celebration of World Book (that's not the encyclopedia) Day. Whew!
