On version 1.6.0 release Aug 21st, while checking for updates, it used to show me that there is an update, release Aug 23rd, however, the one it downloaded from the cloud was still 1.6.0 release Aug 21st, so it remained on the same version even after installing the (same) 'update'. Seems there still is some issue with cloud updates.

Download the new update.zip file from the OP/1st post of this thread. Remove all existing update.zip files from SD card as well as internal storage. The try to update from it but keeping it in /sdcard (internal storage root).

If it still doesn't work, then you'll need to do a manual flash from recovery. Refer to the steps in the M96 wiki, link in my signature & ask it to apply update from SD card. Let me know in case it doesn't work.

Is it trivial to switch from Int'l version to Lynx? One can just grab the update.zip from Onyx's site and flash it?

No, it's not that easy. You need to use a tool which Booxstor posted a while ago.

Thanks! It seems that I have failed to mention one detail. The version I have is the Universe version from Amazon. Could this be the problem? I am not entirely sure how this version is different from the Booxtor version, but people seem to suggest that updates are only for the Booxtor edition.

LOL. That IS the issue precisely!

All is not lost though. Just use the provided Flashtool from here & follow the procedure given for T68 here. You should be good.

Be careful though.

The Amazon one is the Lynx one, which is different from the Booxtor one.
The updates posted in this thread are for Booxtor devices. Ony those will recognize them as update.zip and be able to apply them.

Hello everyone,
Is there anyone else who has got problems with the touch screen on the t68 ? I believe I ve got the last update available for the lynx version (2014 08 05- fifth of august I guess) but the touch screen accuracy is so bad it is very difficult to use the keyboard. I believe it to be a software issue not a hardware one but can t be totally sure about it. Can anyone help before a new update is available ?

One more thing : Booxtor said the engineers would hopefully work on an improved version of the a2 mode so to have something as good as the fastmode or as the norefresh on the nook simple touch. any nws about it. Having a smooth scrolling It would make the t68 great for browsing the web with no dragging of text and pics.

Thank you guys, this is a great forum and helped me so much since I bought my t68.

Almost everybody had/has issues w/ the touch screen accuracy. If you read the threads in this forum you'll realize that.
Some are helped by firmware upgrade, others are not. Some have kept their devices despite that, others have returned them.

You re right. I hadn't realized it was so common-,- Anyway, I don't know if this can be of any help but I just installed google keyboard: writing with the swipe option on makes things a lot easier, you can't notice anymorethe lack of accuracy

Aha! So this is how I turn a Universe M96 into a booxtor one! Had previously only managed to find the thead about the T68.

I now see where this is on your wiki -- maybe you should add that that is also the procedure to switch to the booxtor version, I was a bit confused with all the different bits of flashing firmware.

Actually I was waiting for someone to try it out...
Let me know how it goes. If all is well, then I'll add the entry recommending the conversion. If it tears apart into a thousand pieces & becomes as responsive as a stone, I'll post a big warning as a strict no - no for future would be convert enthusiasts.

So, I got it! (T68)
Amazing speed... and the screen is great! Accuracy is very good and reflection is minimal.

I'm not sure if I have the Lynx or not though. It doesn't say anything about "Lynx" on the box and on the site I got it from (here and here) it says "also known as Lynx". No Lynx is shown upon reboot, and "OTA update" screen shows Build number: 2014-08-28_18-11_1.6.2_c3d7920. No updates are found.

So which one do I have? :P

Trying to solve the "play store not starting" issue now.. EDIT: did a factory reset and it's fixed. Everything changed to chinese but thank god I speak "android" so I found the setting :P

You have the "Onyx International" version. The Lynx version says "Lynx" (and has a picture of a Lynx) on its power-off screen.

Thanks for clarifying. So now we know, Dutch shops (the two I found at least) carry the International version.
