Can anyone help me?
I've been using epubtools today with no problems. I came out of word then later went back in. All of a sudden epubtools is disabled. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, ticking it in the add in section but I cannot get it re-enabled. Does anyone know how to get it working? |

In my case EPUB Tools (ET) itself was available in Word's menu. But, with the exception of the Settings tool, all the icons in ET's ribbon were greyed out . So I checked the settings for the tools I use, they were OK. I then un-hid all the tools in Configure Ribbon, which 'worked'. I then went back into Configure Ribbon and re-hid the tools I don't use, and it was OK - i.e. back to where it was. I have no idea why this happened, and I couldn't make it happen again, so I didn't report it. Can't recall if it was current (1.12.2) or previous version. BR |

I don't even havve the ribbon. If it wasn't for the fact that it's showing as disabled in the add in bit, you wouldn't think I had it instlled.

Drop me a PM. Have you checked the FAQ on my site? It has listed the most obvious causes.

Version 1.13.0 released
New version is released: 1.13.0.
Changelog from 1.12.2 to 1.13.0 New: Progress indicator while creating list of misspelled words New: Added option in S&R rules for the 'Whole Word' option of Word New: During S&R occurrences can be either ignored for the rest of the document or replaced for the rest of the document Update: Better handling of media queries when importing ePUB Update: Improved speed with S&R procedure when starting and moving to other rulesets and rules Update: Reworked S&R rulesets editor. Fix: Ribbon now has its own ID to prevent mixing of multiple ribbons Although an additional option can be used for the rulesets of the S&R procedure, there is no need to change the tables. It will also accept the old format of the tables. The replacement documents on the site have been adapted to reflect the changes to the tables. A selective ignore or replace can be selected for each S&R hit. In that case, the exact same occurrence will be ignored or replaced for that specific S&R rule. If there are other hits for that rule, these will still be found. The ignore was already possible, but the replace is new. |

Hello Toxaris!
I'm working on a Windows-10, 32-bit engine, using Word 2013. I downloaded your actual version (without first uninstalling the old version, but I suppose this is not necessary?), and there are strange things happening: I opened the "settings" section and modified some of my preferences, then veryfied that the "save at exit" box was checked, and then clicked at "exit" - but nothing happened, i. e. an exit by clicking the box was not possible. I tried various altermnatives in the settings, but always the same result. I had to quit by clicking the closing cross in the upper right corner. I tried to create an epub nevertheless - noticing that indeed, the settings hadn't changed. Everything seemed to work alright so far. The ebook had been created, but I realized that there was only one html file, containing only about a dozen of the initial sentences of the book. (I did this repeatedly, always with the same result) Then, I added the created epub to my Calibre library and opened it with the Calibre ebook viewer tool - and there, the book appeared entirely. Then, I opened in Calibre the "edit book" tool, and there appeared nothing at all - no html, no css etc. I looked at the created html file and used an online tool for creating epubs - and there it worked. My suspicion is that the culprit is the added cover image, a jpg of about 150 kb. I'll try tis evening to create an epub without this cover, but strange it is, anyway. |

Hm, I just tried to create the epub without cover, but - still no luck.
Strange that the text always ends at the same spot; still the table of contents is indicated correctly. |

It seems that I found the real culprit: The text transformed into epub ended always (also with the help of the online tool, what I only now realized) at the expression: "laterna magica". As it is from latin, I set it into italics. Thus, whatever I did, the text was cut of there, and the online tool was anyhow going further and created more html's, beginning with the new heading.
When I tried to edit the respective text that was cut of in Notepad++, I noticed that the italics tags were - strange enough - removed. I saved it to html, inserted it to the epub, and lo! it could be saved in Sigil. As soon as I tried to tag the Expression in italics, the same behaviour as before occured again. Enigmatic, because other words in the text are set into italics, too, and with no problem occuring. Edit: No, obviously Sigil does not accept any word set into italics. Ok, that is actually helping. Another quick question, if you change settings, are they stored? Leonatus is experiencing that changes to the settings are not saved.

So I reinstalled 1.12.2, as I did yesterday, I checked a couple of things to ensure I hadn't broken anything, Everything was OK. And then, for no good reason, I looked at the %appdata\Toxaris folder - by gosh, the previously absent ePUBToolsSRRules.xml was there!! So I reinstalled 1.13 and did a test, without changing my replacement rules document, or looking at S&R settings. Seemed to work OK. Much faster to start and the Replace All works exactly as I hoped it would - I haven't checked out the Whole Word feature yet. Yesterday all I did was -- install 1.13, run S&R which did nothing, tried, without success, to look at S&R settings; at that point I pulled the plug on 1.13. Today I did a lot more fiddling around with settings to ensure they persisted. But I did not look at S&R settings ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll make necessary changes to my replacement rules document, and make use of new features in coming days. If you don't hear from me by next week you can assume it's A-OK, but I will try to remember to come back with a thumbs up before then. Rest assured I'll come back if it's not OK ![]() BTW - big ![]() Cheers BR Last edited by BetterRed; 10-02-2015 at 11:18 PM. |
