I just joined, I like a challenge

I'm about 1/4 of the way through the first part of LOTR.

Man, this is all so crazy. Anyway just thought I'd chime in on two things. One, I noticed the Goodreads group referenced is a knockoff, here's the original (it's nicer because it sorts all the challenge posts by user name, making yours easier to find and there's over 1,000 members). Two, just noticed that goodreads has a ticker on their main page where you can put your challenge amount in and it'll track it for you automatically. Super cool!

OK, I've seen the tickers around and got interested and finally found this thread. I am a slow reader. I generally like to savour a book and re-read passages and think about what I'm reading, etc. 100 books sounds fun to me, but impossible with my busy life and slow reading style.

I do want to challenge myself to get more books read this year though. I'm tempted to join, but I don't think I will because it will perturb me not getting anywhere near 100. Is there a 50 version of this club?

You can always set your own goal ! Or set up your own club

I had to delete my ticker because some petty person complained about it.

Has anyone heard from Terminator? Are we just going to leave things in the group form, or what? I notice we all have our own page now. Will that give us enough room for all our posts? Obviously we can't discuss them there.

Welcome aboard, sun surfer! I can't imagine that I'll do even fifty this year, so reaching a hundred is not on my horizon. The idea is just to have fun.

I know there is a function where you block people's signature. If people don't want to see them, they should just do that. Besides, I've seen at least 10 people with a ticker so far, does that mean we should all remove it ?

I've just left him a message :-) But I think we should just go ahead and start the thread. People who don't want to discuss what they've read and just list their books can just ignore it.

what was wrong with your ticker? I thought it was fine and could somebody point me towards everybody's own page.

I don't see where we all have our own page either. What I see is the same as what we had on the first.

I'm not sure this will work: you can post your books here. Just go to the social group 'read 100 books in 2011', then to social group discussions and then on books read in 2011. You just list the books you've read and edit the same post when you want to add books. It's not really your own page, just you own post on a thread

It got changed back!!

The other day when I was on the social group site, every person had a private page. I was page #8. Now it is back the way it was.

It may have provided more space but didn't address the issue of discussions. Maybe that's why it got changed back?

They just said it was "inappropriate". It was a ladybug crawling through grass....

I was told I am only allowed a link to sites written in small font in my sig line. That's what happens when you telll a mod he is wrong (he was). They get on a power trip...

that's too bad hopefully you can get it back later on. On the bright side the Goodreads automatic challenge ticker is pretty cool
