That book I've been reading has been great fun so far. Now I know why cats try to trip you up (on purpose!) and how dogs think of cats and how cats think of dogs and how they both think of us!

I have to confess to being a fan of this series, but this is one of, if not the best so far.
I found it compulsive reading, the word pictures in three places are vividly graphic and gripping, a well constructed plot well executed. I avoid giving 5 star ratings but this one comes close at 4 1/2

Definitely a must read if you like this genre.

Plot:
Spoiler:
Jack Reacher encounters what he believes is a suicide bomber on the US metro. Confronting this leads to his arrest and involvement with all the US law enforcement and covert operations agencies trying to cover up something they wish to hide. Plus attention from an extremist group led by a beautiful girl who will stop at nothing to achieve their aims

Damn it Columbus. I bought this book from Sony and was saving it for my next vacation. But based on what you said, I figured what harm could there be in reading the first few paragraphs? Then, I figured I had the strength to actually finish the first chapter and save the rest. I expect you know what happened next. Yeah, I finished it off in damn near one setting.

I'm leaning more towards Miss Marple because I know I absolutely love those books.

EDIT: Scratch that, I just read a few pages in The Time Traveler's Wife, okay...I'm totally reading that!!! How can I read the intro and not read on???
This is just my opinion, but I suggest giving The Time Traveler's Wife a wide birth and not reading it. The author is a hypocrite. She says she doesn't like eBooks because they look the look and feel of paper (paraphrase) yet its available as an aBook (audio book). It's her attitude that totally turns me off to reading her work.

I am interested in how the first Eve Duncan book is. The description does sound interesting and I've considered it.

I have yet to read the third Camel Club book, but it's on my list to read. The book I am reading now and rather enjoying is The Hunters by W.E.B. Griffin. It's the third book in his Presidential Agent series. Long books BTW but very good and worth the read.

Currently on Carp Jugulum. Anyone remember where Maurice and Wee Free Men fit in the reading order?
I would base it on date published. That would put Wee Free Men either before or after Thief of Time.

Once you do get to then, I think you'll also really enjoy Witches Abroad and Lords and Ladies. Both have the Nanny Ogg and crew in them.

I've read The Silmarillion and I hated it. I read it from cover to cover and found it horribly dull and hideously hard to read. I did take a gander at Children of Hurin and decided it wasn't worth my time and effort.

Just finished "Cry Wolf" by Patricia Briggs. Really a page-turner for me (I read it in 1 day, since I was on holiday then ! ).
Now I'll "open" "Moon Called" !

Just finished "Never Say No to a Killer" (a hard boiled story that is available for download here on MR).

Now I'm deep into a non-fiction book, "Rhetorics of Fantasy." It's slow going and I keep falling asleep.

If I manage 100 pages today, I'll treat myself to a frothy romance.

Sorry but this sounds very silly to me. Anyone has a right not to like ebooks. I have a sister who finds the idea distateful, and strangely enough this did nothing to my opinion of her as a human being. If I have to check the personal likes and dislike of every author before I read their books, I won't read a lot.

Of course you are free yourself not to read books for silly reason (I do that myself). But trying to discourage others from reading them smacks a little of censorship, sorry.

I've rarely been so amused, disgusted and morbidly fascinated all at the same time, while learning nothing of value AT ALL
