Just a warning about American Psycho - it's quite ... ermm ... explicit, violent, sexual and yet through it all you will potentially find it very hard to resist laughing.

Sounds like DEAD(ish). *snicker*

(nah, not really)

I've seen entirely too many kids' movies lately.

I used to have a nice 24" 1920x1200 panel... but now I'm sitting with a (comparatively) miserable 1600x1080 20"

The big / good panel went to Elita so that she could work with less eye strain

Mine are 1680x1050 and I'm very happy with them actually. Acer AL2002's that I got almost 4 years ago. Having 2 makes a big difference though; now when I'm at work it seems like I see everything with one eye closed. Wish I could find another one of this model to do triple-head but they're not made any more, everyone's doing 16:9 aspect ratios so they can watch movies on their computers

Picked up my Amazon package from the concierge leaving for work. Even though I already have Ulysses in two digital editions (one free, one paid), it's a pleasure to have a physical book in hand. It's a brick

Still, I read the digital one on the train, with the brick safely tucked in my handbag

The book, American Psycho...

Not much shocks me. Not much literally sickens me. That book did in a few spots (I read it when it first came out. I don't know how I'd see it now). Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good book. It's just not one I ever recommend to other people, as I generally don't know folks well enough to know how they'd take it (or take me for recommending it). I figure they'll find it if they find it. I've never read another Brett Easton Ellis, but that's not related (I'd enjoy recommendations). I've not seen the movie (I'm not a big movie watcher, and it's not the kind of movie I look for if I do watch).

Cheers,
Marc

The movie, American Psycho was one of those movies where the shocking scenes are so over the top that it loses the impact of realism, I am hoping this was intentional as it goes along with the whole theme of the story line (from the movie), to be summed up in my own way, "No one takes you seriously; no one believes you".

It is interesting in comparison to the recent "Girl with the dragon tattoo" movie which was quite graphic and explicit, in some ways more so than the book itself.

Paul.

Mmmm... I'll have to watch/read it sometime. It's odd - with humour, I can watch almost any amount of violence, it seems. Without, I turn away. Hubby thought I'd hate Fifth Element because of the violence... *boggle* ZOMG close to my fave movie of all time! Choreography!!!

And besides, I seem to have a twisted, violent mind. The number of people who've been traumatised by DEAD(ish)... So maybe sickening books/movies are my thing and I just haven't noticed it yet...
