Magic Strikes is the third in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. It has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003QP4DVS
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/magic-strikes-1

Spoiler:
Quote:
When magic strikes and Atlanta goes to pieces, it’s a job for mercenary Kate Daniels in this thrilling novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Drafted into working for the Order of Merciful Aid, mercenary Kate Daniels has more paranormal problems than she knows what to do with these days. And in Atlanta, where magic comes and goes like the tide, that’s saying a lot.

But when Kate's werewolf friend Derek is discovered nearly dead, she must confront her greatest challenge yet. As her investigation leads her to the Midnight Games—an invitation only, no holds barred, ultimate preternatural fighting tournament—she and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, uncover a dark plot that may forever alter the face of Atlanta's shapeshifting community...

And also, Ilona Andrews appear to be doing a serialization of a short story? novella? they swear it's not a book! featuring Julie (Kate's adopted daughter). The first four installments are posted on their blog (https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/), and they are identified as "Ryder part ##", so you can find them. So far it's pretty enjoyable IMO, even without an end promised.

Murder with Reservations is the sixth in the Dead-End Job series, which author Elaine Viets appears to be republishing and putting on sale title-by-title, in both the US and UK. This one is on Countdown for $0.99/£0.99 for about 4 1/2 more days.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079TG1VQP

Spoiler:
Quote:
From Anthony and Agatha Award-winning author Elaine Viets—the thrilling mystery series about one woman trying to make a living... while other people are making a killing.

Still on the run from the long arm of the law, Helen Hawthorne has found employment as a maid at Fort Lauderdale’s Full Moon Hotel, picking up after clueless tourists and keeping her head down.

But staying discreet gets a bit more difficult when Helen opens the hotel Dumpster and discovers the dead body of a fellow hotel employee. Then, a hotel guest is murdered in the shower, and Helen’s no-good ex-husband Rob arrives in town in search of the money the court said he deserves.

With the police already suspicious, and her friends frantically trying to keep Rob off her trail, Helen knows the only way clean up the mess is to find the killer. But if she’s not careful, the killer just might find her first…

Aurora Blazing by Jessie Mihalik (Consortium Rebellion #2) on sale for $1.99

Spoiler:
To save her brother and protect her family’s future, a powerful princess must join forces with a dashing man from her past in this thrilling space adventure, the second novel in the Consortium Rebellion trilogy.

As the dutiful daughter of High House von Hasenberg, Bianca set aside her personal feelings and agreed to a political match arranged by her family, only to end up trapped in a loveless, miserable marriage. When her husband unexpectedly dies, Bianca vows never to wed again. Newly independent, she secretly uses her wealth and influence to save other women stuck in dire circumstances. Information is power and Bianca has a network of allies and spies that would be the envy of the ’verse—if anyone knew about it.

When her family’s House is mysteriously attacked, Bianca’s oldest brother, the heir to House von Hasenberg, disappears. Fearful for her brother’s life, the headstrong Bianca defies her father and leaves Earth to save him. Ian Bishop, the director of House von Hasenberg security—and Bianca’s first love—is ordered to find and retrieve the rebellious woman.

Ian is the last man Bianca wants to see. To evade capture, she leads him on a merry chase across the universe. But when their paths finally collide, she knows she must persuade him to help her. Bianca will do anything to save her sibling, even if it means spending time alone on a small ship with the handsome, infuriating man who once broke her heart.

As the search takes them deep into rival House Rockhurst territory, Bianca must decide if she can trust Ian with the one piece of information that could destroy her completely . . .

This is the first time I've seen book two on sale. As with book one, I paid full price ($11.99) for this back when it was released and have no regrets.

I'm not sure I've ever thought of Georgette Heyer as having any "Greatest Hits", but according to Sourcebooks, who publish her in the US, she does. Because an omnibus of her "Greatest Hits" is now on sale for $4.99 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable). The three titles included are Arabella, Frederica, and The Grand Sophy.

My absolute favorite Heyer title is The Unknown Ajax, but The Grand Sophy is probably my second favorite, although Devil's Cub and These Old Shades are in the running for second place too. Arabella and Frederica are up there on my Heyer list also, though, so this is not a bad stab at a "Greatest Hits".

I haven't seen/noticed the Sourcebooks/Heyer Birthday sale for a few years (???), so if you need and want these, this is a pretty good price. Especially since Sourcebooks normally prices Heyer titles at US $8 and up - mostly up .

I totally second the recommendation, and am really looking forward to the third book, Chaos Reigning, coming out in May. And, Mihalik has a couple of titles in her Rogue Queen series available too, at reasonable prices. These are pubbed by NYLA, which I'm not totally sure of as a pubisher??? I've liked and enjoyed those too, although they seem a smidge less tightly written/edited than the Consortium ones. And there are rumors of a third title in the Rogue Queen series coming as well, if you look at Mihalik's website. (You can tell I like her books, because I don't bother to look at very many author's websites...)

Mimi Matthews writes Regencies and Victorians with good period detail. She has a couple of books FREE right now and a couple of others on sale for $0.99.

Free:

The Lost Letter

The Viscount and the Vicar's Daughter

$0.99

The Work of Art

A Convenient Fiction - This is Book 3 of her Parish Orphans of Devon series. I've read book 1 and 4, thought book 1 was a decent start to the series, and loved book 4.

I third the recommendation for Jessie Mihalak and Aurora Blazing. I love this series and am eagerly waiting for Chaos Reigning. Her books are a bit weighted towards the space opera action, but there is still a good romance at the heart of each one.

Her Rogue Queen series is self-published. The stories appeared as a serial on her blog first, then she edited and self-published them once finished. She added just over 10,000 words to The Queen's Advantage vs how the story appeared on her blog.

The third novella (or will it be a short novel?) is hopefully coming this year. blog post re: The Next Rogue Queen Serial is Delayed Because it will be self-published she understandably puts the books she's under contract to write first. This series is more of a side project.

I am eagerly awaiting both Chaos Reigning and The Queen’s Triumph.

I've enjoyed a couple of Susannah Nix's Chemistry Lessons series, and now the second one in the series, Intermediate Thermodynamics, is free at Kindle US and UK, and Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074HLQHPP
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/int...ermodynamics-1
Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074HLQHPP

Spoiler:
Quote:
Aerospace engineer Esther Abbott doesn't believe in love, but she's perfectly happy to hate her annoying screenwriter neighbor, Jonathan. Until she's forced to strike a devil's bargain with him: he distracts her best friend from a mouth-breather ex, and in return Esther will help him with the sci-fi script he's writing.

Her patience is put to the test when it's time to fulfill her end of the deal. But the more time she spends with her nemesis, the more hate turns into attraction--and attraction into something much deeper. As Esther's carefully constructed defenses start to crumble, will love be her undoing or her salvation?

This enemies-to-lovers romance is the second in a series of standalone rom-coms featuring heroines who work in STEM fields.

I wasn't wild about the last few titles in GA Aiken's Dragon Kin series, although I really liked the first few. They were okay, IMO, but not great. But YMMV...so here's an omnibus of the last five titles in the series, books 5-9, for $8.69 at Kindle and Kobo US (coupon/VIPable). That's a pretty good price if you want/need all five...

Titles include:
  • The Dragon Who Loved Me
  • How to Drive a Dragon Crazy
  • Light My Fire
  • Feel the Burn
  • Bring the Heat
