Dang, it never occurred to me to see if there would be freebies in there. Thanks for catching that. Next time I'll check for them.

I'm not downloading them because I really dislike the romance genre.

I don't know what the title in questions was, but since when? Erotica and Erotic Romance deals get posted on MR all the time (or do you mean something else?).

Sorry to ask, I just see no rules posted anywhere (posting guidelines) that reference this.

Seems a little judgy to me, frankly. You might want to check the Romance thread for evidence to the contrary. And more than one man on this forum is openly a Georgette Heyer fan.

I'll raise my hand. I've read quite a bit of what would be considered Romance and liked it just fine. I've found that almost always posts like the above are from someone who's likely never really even explored the genre (which is quite large and varied).

I "never" go on the Romance thread, so didn't know . . . .

The post was actually an attempt at a little bit of humor, by hyperbole, and was a little bit tongue-in-cheek. The sin that I will confess to is not so indicating with the use of an appropriate smiley or at least adding a "ha" at the end, so people would know that.

I do have a tendency to try to make subtle humor, and assume that everyone else "gets it." Such would be more successful if people could see my body language which, of course, they can't. I will work on that. I think that the problem developed from being a professional public speaker for about 30 years. People can see your body language when you are publicly speaking, and a speaker can get by, and be successful, with using the subtle, tongue-in-cheek humor much more.

Your admonition was received with appreciation.

I don't fault TM, he's just toeing the party line so to speak. I do think it's funny that my little faux-pas came at the end of ALA's Banned Books Week.
