I'll apologize in advance for the fact that I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old, but I just got back from the store, where I saw this soup:

Cultural differences, translation fail, and all that, I get it. But again... sense of humor of a 12 year old, so I had to sneak my phone out and take a picture...

Am I going to get my hand slapped for this?

The new galaxy tab had it's software translated and in Romanian the word for Home got translated to Porn.

Blow up the image and look more closely. I think you'll find the word is actually "pom", which is a Romanian word for "tree". Home can be considered the roots of the tree, and everything else will be branches from it.

There are a lot of things like that.

A popular dish in Jamaica is bull's pizzle soup. An old friend was an electrician. At one point, his shop was working on public housing projects in NYC. It was his turn that day to get lunch for the crew, and Lloyd, a Jamaican crew member, put in a request for "cock soup". My friend found himself in a bodega where the signs were all in Spanish and the staff only spoke Spanish, trying to fulfill Lloyd's request. After various back and forth in pidgin, and clutching his crotch to illustrate what he meant, they got the idea and emerged from the kitchen with a foot long bull's pizzle in broth in a quart plastic container.

There was hilarity among the crew at Lloyd's choice of meal, but he was unabashed and asserted that they ate it all the time back in Jamaica as a source of strength and potency.

If it's the thread I'm thinking of, it's actually a rather good one. And we've only had one poster suspended for not listening to warnings about behavior.

(As it happens, his problem wasn't posts about the topic - it was posts attacking another member over things unrelated to the topic. The discussion of the topic has been civil and informative.)
