You need extensions built specially for newer devices (aka Kindle HF or firmware 5.16+). Unfortunately it seems that the developer community became smaller, so there are not many extensions that were updated... However the new Gargoyle should work.

Hello, I was trying (sorry there is language barrier) of install koreader on kindle 4 non touch (D01100) (black) from 2011, and I can't
I sucessfull JB my device with JB 1.8.N
I sucessful install MKK by update kindle in system menu "Update_mkk-20141129-k4-ALL_install"
I copy KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 file.
I got error launch it "This device not authorized as a test Kindle by a developer of this item"
";log mrpi" does nothing
Reinstalling MKK "Update_mkk-20141129-k4-ALL_install" or "Update_mkk-20141129-k4-ALL_uninstall" Fails to install with U007 error code
My system version 4.1.4

Please help, I was tryning to install Koreader, but maby my device is too old and unsupported?

Seems like your JB hasn’t been installed fully.

Restart Kindle twice.

Then try mkk again.

KOReader works, you need kindle version with “legacy”

I'm my case I needed a factory reset in my Kindle PW3 first, doing this: putting a blank file on Kindle root directory name DO_FACTORY_RESTORE without extension.
I reset my Kindle hold
power bottom for 30 seconds and then starts the process to Jailbreak.

Is there any way the Kindle Touch support for KUAL might be updated to stop the following error from appearing when trying to launch it?

That was the process that I used to install what is currently the latest KUAL update. For the Touch, I just copied the KUAL-KDK-2.0.azw2 file to the device's documents folder.

This was working fine up until today (maybe as early as yesterday, given that I had just tried to invoke it again today). Today, I now see the error message that I posted earlier when I attempt to invoke it.

I think that the developer key must have expired. If so, it could be that a new key needs to be generated and the applications such as KUAL resigned.

It has been reported that if you set the date in the past that things work again.

That's what I figured happened, but I wasn't sure. Given how old this device is, what is the likelihood that KUAL will get resigned? Thanks for confirming!!
p.s. I don't want to reset the date in the past because I have some code that I wrote that is displaying the current date/time.

USBnetwork, but NiLuJe released a new version of kual, replace the old kual file in the documents directory with the new one and then, copy the bin file (in the link below) to the root of the kindle and "update kindle from settings". it should work then

If it's jailbroken, you can use the date(1) command. Do a google search for "man date" and you should find a page that shows you how to invoke it. However, just use the post above to update the developer keys. I haven't tried this yet.
