The further question:

For anyone who got a basic Kindle 2024 release, does it have Download and transfer available or is it also missing?

That should answer if it is 12th gen specific, or if it is 2024 released specific. Amazon still has the new basic Kindle as the 11th gen per the product page.

Between hubby and I we have a PW SE 11th gen, a PW 11th gen, a Kindle 6” 11th gen and a Scribe. They can all download & transfer as at today. I just tested it.

Those are all pre-2024 releases though. I'm talking about the brand-new models.

Curious for anyone who has the new MTP Kindles...do you have access to books downloaded directly to the Kindle?

Someone on another thread (more than one person I think) has confirmed they do not have the option to download and transfer for one of the new Kindle’s they already have received.

With the new PW 12th gen (I think it's MTP) I see it has a mass storage and can access it on a Windows computer.

Does it answer your question?

The files are accessible and there might be a possibility.

But imported in Calibre you got a KFX-ZIP just as you could have with the last kindle app version (clearly DRMed).

It will require some work I guess.

Howdy! First post here

I got the 2024 basic and can confirm it does not show up under the “download and transfer via usb” options. My other kindles are listed. The 2024 basic does show in my devices, so it seems, at least for now, it doesn’t have the D&T feature.
