Yesterday I received a new H2O. I made the installation of the KSM and Koreader how it described in the both guides except the folder from Koreader zip. I placed this not in .kobo but in .adds. And now it seems to be working fine. Thank you again for your response. Regards MerrittR |

here's a book that makes koreader crash when I convert the azw to epub in calibre. (firefox epub plug in opens it, sigil too)
DL http://demo.ovh.eu/en/d0e83364c745075057b9d71896e8c801/ I converted the azw to mobi and koreader opens it now. Using FW 3.15 and nightly 2014.11.271 |

Using zsync with Koreader
I am a Linux user and installed zsync on Linux. With the Koreader of my Kobo Glo, (and thanks to KSM 07), I can open wifi (to link for example to Evernote service) using the same wifi network as my computer. However I did not succeed to link Koreader to my computer though they use the same wifi network. I would like to sync a folder on my computer and I am probably missing some command to do it. Could somebody help? |

Perhaps your Linux version (not the paid version) can "publish" the file? I find the OPDS feature more useful, for getting ebook files wirelessly, from my PC to my devices running Koreader. Check out the "OPDS Catalog Generation" section, there should be something you could setup. Luck; Ken Last edited by Ken Maltby; 07-26-2015 at 11:21 AM. |

Thanks for your advice. It seems zsync is not the right tool for me. I will try to learn something about OPDS and make some experiments. |

I use it as part of my workflow for getting a new ebook. Once I have purchased the new ebook, using my PC, I add the download file to calibre and do whatever work it needs there. Then I can turn on the content server. Then I can use OPDS in Koreader and put the file where I want it in my file structure. Luck; Ken |

I have been a Calibre user but mainly for the Editor, also for converting. I did ignore the calibre-server function... Thanks for this precious information: it seems definitely more handy to use with Koreader OPDS tool than the "Calibre wireless connection" which would be probably too invasive. Do you use a script or a specific command to turn on calibre-server? I'll try to write a small bash script. Last edited by roger64; 07-27-2015 at 01:32 AM. |

Calibre has a command line option to start the server, it could even be added to your PC's startup, if you wanted. Luck; Ken Last edited by Ken Maltby; 07-27-2015 at 08:02 AM. |

This is a brand new area for me. Forgive my dumb questions. I have now the calibre-server up and running and I can browse its content using http://hostname:8080. I set it up with a password. In the file manager of Koreader, I asked to generate a new OPDS server. Koreader asks me to give - name - URL I'm failing here. I tried writing the IP given by Calibre (192....), then the above hostname. It gets no information. The password has not been requested, which looks strange... Have you a - disguised - example? |

For mine I just use the supplied "Local calibre catalog", but I haven't added a password.
When you generate a new catalog listing, the name can be anything you choose. The "Catalog URL" is just that, in your description http://hostname:8080. You could use the IP address in place of the "hostname", of course. You could try placing the password at the end, of the URL, probably separated be a comma. With the WiFi off you can click on the supplied URLs and the error message will include the format used. The Local calibre catalog URL is "http://192.168.ect..:8080/opds" -------------- I played with adding a password, using calibre preferences, and it tested OK with my PC. It gave me a name and password popup, that worked, again this is on my PC. I tried a bunch of ways to include the name&password in the name and URL entries for a new catalog, but no luck, none of them worked. I guess the guys at GitHub might have to add the capability to process password requests, if we are to be able to use them. Luck; Ken Last edited by Ken Maltby; 07-27-2015 at 12:18 PM. |

This is to report success. ![]() I suppressed the password on the OPDS calibre-server. This had been declared on Koreader under a new name. I failed to modify the address using the GUI. The modify button was stuck and gave no result. I opened the file settings.reader.lua, found under the "opds servers" tag, the title and the former non-working url of this server. I modified manually the url to : http://192.168.....:8080/opds. EDIT: Resuming my tries, I managed to modify both my new custom OPDS link and the local Calibre OPDS (both with the same values) and to connect each of them to the OPDS content-server of Calibre (but without password). After that, I could connect to the Calibre server of my computer, and download a book on /mnt/onboard. Thank you again for your patience and kindness and all your tips. Koreader is a wonderful tool. ![]() ![]() Last edited by roger64; 08-01-2015 at 05:33 AM. Reason: EDIT |

I'm currently reading an epub filled whose pages are crowded with linkable footnotes, I keep hitting on them accidentally, is there a way to deactivate this, or a shortcut back to the original page?
