Chris is changing the oil on his Blazer. But ASCII is short for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. But in this case, it just means the keyboard strokes that make up the smileys, like : - ) for a smile, ; - ) for a wink, and : - P for sticking your tongue out at someone.

p.s. Be glad you can't see LCF's avatar, Recluse. I get lost in watching that thing for looong periods of time sometimes... It's one of those animation thingies that goes in a loop and looks like a ball going through holes in a yin/yang symbol.

Beppe's right, there are all kinds of variations. I use the spaced out versions for illustration, otherwise some forum softwares give me the smileys anyway...which wouldn't have helped Recluse, LOL!
