"Star Chamber" is what Marc (I think) named the mod forum. Which really kind of fits perfectly, as that place lights up pretty good sometimes with all that goes on around here.

But, but.... Adrian was so nice and understood how tired we all were after tracking down a few pesky little critters .... and he seemed so sincere about wanting to help. Hum... Maybe, we should check with Marc and see if he can help track it down.

The Star Chamber (<--- wikipedia linky) is what I've tended to call the Moderator section. Lest others (not you guys, who know) think I'm being arrogant by calling it so, you should know that most of my words are so laced with irony that magnets go into musth in their presence. The Star Chamber is often a lot like The Lounge, but apparently all the shiny-flashy buttons actually do stuff (at least I assume so, going from all the weird noises, bumps, screams and giggles I can hear coming from various parts of MR when I press them...umm, don't tell the other mods I said that bit, okay?).

Hello, Jon. Hello DGMa. You'll note I'm sending this to you both (publicly, because I can't send Jon a PM) because I saw a post, looked at a couple of profiles, had a "What the..?!" worry moment, realised it was none of my business, and thus felt compelled to stick my nose in. I'm like that. Feel free to ignore.

Look, let me be straight with you. When I first saw you both interacting, and friendly-like, I thought to myself that there might be coming a moment...you know that moment when the synchromesh on your gearbox slips a bit between first and second and there's a loud crunch before things realign and start running smooth again. No? Neither do I...I know buggerall about the mechanics of cars.

Anyway, my point...my point is that there's a legacy of personality behind both of you (a lovely legacy I've always felt privileged to be part of) that hasn't necessarily sufficiently intertwined such that the bulk of communication (you know, the stuff behind and between all the words, when the words are saying something else) has gained its own dialect (I'm of the opinion that every relationship or developing interaction has its own, unique dialect). It takes time...and bumps. I know we did, Jon, and were good...better for it.

My point...I'm getting to it...I have to talk a lot to get there, otherwise my mind starts to work and I begin to listen to its wise but repetitive advice to just shut the hell up...my point is that I think your developing dialogue/interraction just hit a speed bump while changing gear. But that broadly-speaking we don't change gear much, and there are overall few speed bumps. This metaphor is getting tired (or is that "tyred"...ha ha...no? Okay, fair enough).

My point is, please just let it be a bump. It's really no biggie, honest. Just an inexplicable little bump. Things are always better if you move past them and stop looking at them (struggling...hard...to...not...say..."in the rearview mirror"). As mum always used to say, "If you keep pulling that face and the wind changes, it'll stay that way"...no, wait, that's not relevant (and, sadly, I wasn't pulling a face, that was my normal face)...I mean she said, "It'll never get better if you pick at it".

Does this make sense? I hope not. Sometimes the best help I can offer is to be both a convenient distraction and a (bad) example to others.

I like you two. You're nice (even when you're not meaning to be ).
