My friend, an art major, was the one who clued me in. I AIM'd him asking if the phrase meant anything to him, and he knew it pretty much immediately.

Cheating, yes. But, at least I didn't use the Google machine.

A bathtub is filled half-way with water. Floating in the tub is a boat filled with metal nuts and bolts. If the boat tips over, dumping the payload into the water, will the water fall, rise, or stay the same as when the nuts and bolts were in the boat? Why?

The water will stay the same level because the weight of the nuts and bolts was already displacing the same amount of water.

Angela Lansbury's first film role was Nancy Oliver, Ingrid Bergman's conniving maid, in Gaslight in 1944. Including her in the cast forced the director to delay filming her scenes for several months? Why?
