I'm reading, with no cover, and want to put it to sleep: I push the button on the reader to put it to sleep. I want to read: I put the cover on, open the cover, and then take the cover off? Sounds very uncool. Or, I'm done reading: put the cover on and close the reader. I want to read: open the cover, take the cover off, and start reading. Sounds very uncool. |

Sometimes I like to read without cover and it is easier to hold the Libra for longer reading sessions. Also would like to spare the power button.

Also, I do sometimes take my Reader with me when I am out and about. There's no way I'd take it without a cover. It's just way easier to leave it in the cover as the cover makes it easier to hold and easier to use. |

I admit that since I tend to purchase my Kobo devices on release so I've always gone with the Kobo cases. I've never had one that cracked the case. The only time I've read of a case possibly causing a cover crack was a Kindle Basic in the matcha colour. I've read of a lot more times where not having the ereader in the cover has caused screen damage, cracked case corners, etc.

Although sometimes at home I remove the cover and read like that. I take good care of my electronics. So yeah, a page turn button wake up function would be handy for me. |

Snap-in covers can be too tight and give pressure to the device which eventually might crack the glass substrate. This was a huge issue long time ago with official Pocketbook covers.
Also kobo origami cases are not really safe. The hard cover can bend into the screen and break it. |

I think I cracked (but not broke!) the screen on a galaxy tab by throwing it in my bookbag without a cover. I think something else in the bag put pressure on the screen, and I was never able to find a good cover for it that was stiff enough to actually protect the screen. It actually has some dents in the back that would have broken the screen, and it got those with the cover on! I think I went through 4 of one of the early models of nooks (mostly under warranty). Some of those died for no obvious reason without the screen cracking. I know I dropped it a lot, but at least one of them was never dropped and died anyway. I've bought both kobo official and third party covers. The official kobo cover does put a lot of pressure on the case during insertion and removal, but I've never had it damage the kobo, but I've been afraid a few times. My most recent cover is a third party one, because the official one delaminated on me. I have an origami like third party case. I've worried about the case bending instead of protecting the screen but haven't had any damage yet, and I throw it in the bag with the galaxy tab. (Maybe one damaged the other? idunno.) I've had enough frustration with dumb cases for various devices that I've considered taking up leather working as a hobby. Maybe after I finish my current books... |

Out of curiosity, how many times have you heard of a Kobo origami case bending into the screen and breaking it? Or is this a hypothetical situation? |
