Virtual hugs back. I am sorry for your loss.

And thanks everyone.

It's the first time since around 1982 that I haven't had a pet. Over the years I've usually had more than one, but after my last cat died in 2010 it was just the dog (as he was a puppy at the time).

He had a great appreciation for books as he ate a library book once

We lost Hemmi back in August. That was the first time in my life we didn't have a pet. It was a strange two weeks before we brought another cat home. I didn't realize how much I was in the habit of looking for my pet. Still came home from work every day and looked for the cat.

So sorry for your loss Library.

So far they have posted through Chapter 2, Part 2.

Innkeepers is my favorite series of theirs, so this is a nice little Christmas treat!

You can find the posts here: https://ilona-andrews.com/category/i...sweep-with-me/
How is the team Ilona Andrews classified as romance? I read the first couple of books in the Innkeeper series thinking they were fantasy and didn't find them especially romantic. Does the series evolve into a romance series or are their other series romances? Can someone help me understand this?

My wife has read most of the Ilona Andrews books and she classifies them as romance while I have read most of them and classify them as fantasy. The Hidden Legacy series—to me—was definitely fantasy with semi-scientific magic while my wife feels that since Nevada and Connor found their HEA (it only took 3 books and a novella ), this makes it romance. Much the same with Kate Daniels and Curran in their series.

The main difference between these books and the standard romances—again, to me—is that the romance is not the only thread and at times not even the major thread, in the story tapestry.

Then there is the In Death series where the HEA seems to have lasted through 50+ books and shorts.

I would classify the Andrews' Hidden Legacy series and the Edge series as straddling the line between PNR and UF. Both have good romance elements but also have plenty of world building, etc. To me, the Kate Daniels series is strictly UF, while the Innkeeper series is pretty much straight SF/Fantasy.

The reason I posted about the Innkeeper series here is that many of the people who read this forum are PNR/UF fans and the Andrews' books are very popular.

Anyway, the novella is now up for sale on Amazon and the free posts will probably come down within the next day or two if they haven't already.

To all who've recently lost their beloved pets, sending my condolences. I'm unfortunately without animal companionship due to severe allergies, but I well remember how wonderful it was to have them when I was younger.

Once they're alone, more than just gloves come off as Jase and Emily discover their chemistry is combustible, and there may be something to this enemies to lovers thing after all.
