It is a fact that I view it as a con that I can't get access to the ebookstore with the most content at the best prices. It's my review, and to me, it's a problem.

Others may have access to the content that they want, and that's just great. But for a lot of stuff that I wanted, Amazon has been a LOT cheaper, and sometimes the only place that I could get things.

I'm not sure what JSWolf was trying to say, but you are correct in that their is no reliable connection from a Sony reader to the Amazon store. You can always strip the DRM from Kindle books and convert them to ePubs, but that is not what I would consider a reliable connection--just a solution. However, I find it more tedious and problematic to strip the DRM from Kindle books and convert them to ePubs than I do the other way around. In other words, I find it much easier to strip the DRM from ePubs and convert them to MOBI. That was what made me decide to go back to Kindles and get away from the Sony readers. Well actually, that was the thing that finally tilted me away from Sony as Sony had many reasons to send me back to Amazon. The Pearl screens were just icing on the cake.

One thing I wonder tho. The original article posted by the OP seems to mention that these new eReaders will be compatible with the BBeB format. I thought Sony dump that format on the PRS-900 and assumed they would be dumping it also for all their other new eReaders out there...

If it's true, at least the lack of apparent full justification will only be a case of what I'm doing right now : DRM'ed ePubs and convert them back to LRF. But I do hope both eReaders will come with full ePub justification, or at least an option to turn it on or off as per your own preferences...

There are a lot of red flags in that article. True the 900 did away with LRF support and does have a full justification option for ePub. So why wouldn't the supposed new readers do likewise? Instead the supposed new readers seem to have the same specs as the ones they are replacing when it comes to LRF and full justification. I'll be glad when/if we finally hear/read an official statement from Sony. Until then I'm going to treat these supposed new readers as unsubstantiated rumors leaning toward being a hoax.

Please don't spread misinformation. PRS-900 reads LRFs just fine. BBeB has been dropped only in the Reader Store.

Yes, that's the opinion that I'm leaning towards. Someone threw together fake screenshots as a joke/hoax. I'd be very easy to do.

The only think we can be pretty sure of is that there are new Sony Reader models coming later this year. As to what version of ADE they will support, we have no idea yet as nobody has any information on that. So let's not get into a tiff over what might or might not be until we actually know.

Odd, because Sony's website doesn't list BBeB as being compatible with the PRS-900 while it is for the PRS-600 and PRS-300.

I don't own one myself so I can't confirm, but that's where I got my information.

The only thing the PRS-900 does not do is read DRM BBeB, so it only read LRF. While both the PRS-300 & PRS-600 reads both. You can re-download most of the books bought at the Sony Store in ePub. The only negative is that almost a year later, out of 126 books I bought from Sony, I'm still missing 5 since for some reason, the books still say unavailable in my library for download. I do have a BBeB copy of the books on my PRS-505.

Got it, thanks for the clarification

I really enjoy the small size of the PRS-300, and from the pics, the new PRS-305 look like it might even be smaller (because of the reduced bezel) which I'd really like, however, if it turns out that the screen is basically the same as the older models, I might spring for the new Kindle too - even if it's bigger.

Not really a fan of having yet another touchscreen device to clean my fingerprints from... Anyway it's all speculative but I think the thread still shows a big interest in what Sony has to offer!

While Sony has switched over to epubs, all of their machines will still read lrfs.

Look at my comparison shot earlier in the thread-- if that image of the 305 is real, then it is the same width and only a half inch shorter than the 300 (which would be a real disappointment-- I'd like to see a real shrink on all 4 sides.)

Another hint that the new models are coming sooner than later:

I downloaded the new Reader Library software (v. 3.3) and noticed that on zelda's Three Men and a Boat the text appears justified. Can the new 650 and 350 have justified text?
