You are partly resonsible for this thread's continued life. Quit arguing and leave it be, because we all have better things to do than sit around and discuss you or Cherrypal all day.

Get out, smell the flowers, take a walk through some other threads. Just do something besides obsess about a little bit of bad publicity for something you aren't even a part of, you say.

Why do you care? THEY should care, because a little bad publicity leads to big image problems. That's how it is. That's how it will be.

I don't believe the quote above to be accurate. It said 128mb ram and 400mhz xburst cpu available with wince or Linux. Later it listed them separately. I been watching the Cherrypal Africa since just before xmas, for awhile the Linux version wasn't being advertised which prompted me to make contact and ask for it. I do not recall WinXP ever being offered on the Africa, I do recall the ad as stating WinCE. If you could possibly install XP on this device, using XP would be a miserable experience. The ram is inadequate, processor is way too slow and a 2gb disk would fill up in no time at all. I've read other websites where there were a lot of complaints about how terrible even wince runs on this unit. Besides, why would someone want to brick a device with windows?

I went shopping for a cheap small laptop for the grandkids, once I get a better Linux distro installed, I will be sending it out. Kinda late for xmas, but living on disability makes it rough to buy nice toys in a timely fashion.

The prices these units are selling for makes me believe they are surplus old stock, which would make it difficult to impossible to keep these units available for sale. I say give the Max guy a break.

And yes, I signed up with this forum just so I could respond positively to what appears to me to be an unkind public whipping.

When you are happy with a product do you normally search the web looking for people complaining about the product so you can defend it? Or are you so extremely happy with Cherrypal that this is the first time you felt compelled to search for unhappy customers?

I recall seeing a mention on the Cherrypal website about being hacked back in December and again in January. Is it just possible that there may be a connection between your order apparently being lost, his lack of correspondence with you, and... your missing billing?

Why not take a chill pill and remake contact with Cherrypal. Maybe he lost your info.

I get busy and forget all kinds of things, like right now I'm forgetting to go to sleep.

It is noticeable that Velcro_SP has only ever posted in this thread, and only in defence of Cherrypal.

As stated in my earlier post, I manage a London based company that have ordered 10 units from Cherrypal, transferred the funds upfront to his bank and have to this day not received any computers, any valid explanations, apart from promises that we will be refunded. Max Seybold seems to run a one-person scam behind his computer and he thinks he can get away with it. I ordered those computers because I believed in his message, about allowing young african learners to have access to low-cost technology. I believed in his message about Green IT, and unfortunately, I was stupid enough to believe those were genuine. I am no ennemy to Cherrypal, I was happy to invest resources to have it available all over the world. But IT IS A SCAM!!! I run a small charity in support of education and technology for africans, it is a shame that such a person is allowed to deceive people and perform his fraud, knowing how many people are desperate to get their hands on these low-cost equipment. Until I receive my money back from him directly, I will shout it on top of the roofs, MAX SEYBOLD IS RUNNING AN INTERNATIONAL SCAM AND FRAUD WITH THESE COMPUTERS and he must be stopped.

He got a bill. It was routed through a third-party company, as if you'd ordered from Borders bookstore and been sent a bill from Barnes & Noble because Borders just handed along your order to them.

It's harder to dispute the charges when the company you ordered from isn't the one that billed you, or when the name of the company on the webpage isn't the one on their billing statements. It's one of the ways that scam companies keep the money they've taken, by making it harder to trace what was actually supposed to be purchased.
