The weird part is that the white area is exactly the size of the un-maximized window, lol.

Not just that, the actual things are there you can move your mouse over them and click them and they will respond, they just dont render for some reason known only to Qt.

I have that with one application on one workstation (not calibre) that is just a white box on Mate desktop (any renderer) since Mint 21.2, yet the same configuration on other 4 other computers is fine, and the same application (gnome-disk-utility 42.0 UDisks 2.9.4) on the same computer on a different desktop (I forget if Cinnamon, IceWM or XFCE) is OK. A similar alternate disk manager is fine. Formatting a floppy via Caja invokes it, which puts up the (working) child formatting window over the white box. I'd not seen this bug before. Then you guess where the main window X button is

I am running 7.0. When I try to install 7.10 I get Change, Repair or Remove Calibre. There is no option to install 7.10.

That says it thinks you have 7.1 (what does the Calibre status line say)

You could uninstall, the do a fresh download install.

BTW Is this on Linux or Mac?

Now that I think about it, I think I did update to 7.10 about a week ago, but the status line does say 7.0. This time of year is nuts for me.

Any chance you have done a source install sometime in the past? Is there an asterisk next to the calibre version number in the status bar?

Or that you installed a version of calibre "somewhere else" and that is the version that is found when looking at the PATH?

@Apache - uninstall via the control panel, then make sure the Calibre2 sub-directory has gone from wherever it was installed -- e.g. C:\Program Files.

If it hasn't, use brute force (i.e. assume the Admin position). Then re-install from a fresh download.

You won't lose settings or library.

This worked and it now shows as version 7.1.0. But now it shows Update found 7.2.0. Click on the link and it takes you to the 7.1.0 update page and there does not appear to be a 7.2.0 update out yet.

Correction, there is a 7.2.0 update listed under what's new as December 15, 2023. I think Kovid is in the process of adding the update link now.
