@mariosipad,
I'm back earlier... ok, changed sftp/.1/.2/ and added/.3/.4/.5 = 6 users, they are named. I run the script, ok. You will expect (you're right) that I now do not know what to do now!? What have I to tell user 1 what to do in order to reach the music directory, where there is now an album with 12 mp3 files waiting for download by this user. How does he/she got view of this directory/folder: by internet? and which address? I'm helpless, sorry |

1 - have you tested that it all works? For every user/password combination? 1a - from local LAN using local IP 192.168.xxx.yyy 2b - from your PC using freefilesync and total commander with huber.freemyip.com on port 22123 2 - Then try with 1 not local/remote user: for them it should work with the settings from 1b |

@mariosipad,
ok: sftp connection with freefilesync works and synchonization between PC and PI runs ok: access to the directories via sftp connection of total commander works (huberxxx.freemyip.com:22123) |

OK!!! Now tell one of your clients/friends to use a (s)ftp client (total commander / freefilesync/WinSCP/filezilla/etc.) to try with their sftp1/password combination to huberXXX.freemyip.com on port 22123 |

aaah, now there is the end of the line... I just expected that ![]() None of my friends make use of (s)ftp client (total commander / freefilesync/WinSCP/filezilla/etc.). They are at my age but happy, to find the on/off switch at their PC and if something goes wrong with their second hand apple iphone (from their sons or grandsons) (they are even not used to handle them) they communicate by letter as they have been used to do 30 years ago. I am happy that the few friends who make use of my calibre-web are able to download their ebooks (as epub), but to convert them to mobi format someone else has to enter the platform and do the job for them Some of them even try to enter ip-addresses into google field search and wonder why not to get an result You think I exaggerate? No, unfortunately not I thought that with this help - and I have to thank you again - they would be able to view pictures and/or download files from a visible interface by an ip-address they have been used till now via my webspace, but ..... Well it's not that difficult, even I can do it. But I guess I'm a few years younger (just a few). So back to jellyfin. - play mp3's in the browser - view pictures in the browser Setting up to use remotely is also possible ...... but not today. |

...of course not! just to finalize: it's not the good will but the lack of knowledge of my friends, they are really not interested in learning how these things are going. Many of them had to make use of computers during their last years of profession and were happy to leave these unloved items. Today, they use (for sure they have pcs/tablets/smartphones, because friends and neighbours own them, too) these items mainly to view pictures from their grandsons, write some memos via whatsapp, read the newspaper on the tablet (yes, because it's much cheaper than to buy the printed press) and have their "Bundesliga" football Haven't tried out Jellyfin for a long time (2 days or so), but wasn't very enthused. To play music and view pictures mainly meets my requirements, but (I don't remember): the program must be able to allow the download of a total folder, not just single files Generally, music (view, listen and download) is not important/necessary; the few folders of music transfer can be done by google drive. Really of main interest is the section photos/videos (view and download). Ca 14,000 pics: well, photography is one of my main hobbies and I very often offer links for viewing and downloads via my (still existing) website. phototonic is on both my PIs, descrpition https://github.com/oferkv/phototonic There is a screenshot of the program/menu via a kind of a browser - that's the thing I would appreciate to make visible to my friends (but: no download possible) Last edited by huber70; 06-24-2023 at 10:29 PM. |

Ah, I missed your after midnight edit. Just a respectfull question: “why do your friends need to download files if they can view and play them anytime they like from your servers? And how do they do it now?” As far as I know jellyfin does not now allow to download whole folders of content. |

we just talk about photos/files, no music anymore... they view till 02/24 at my website which has been quit now. For complete folder downloads I load up the photos in a zip-file to the website's server http://haselau.eu/media/xxx.zip - they enter the address and download starts automatically no, jellyfin does not allow folder download Last edited by huber70; 06-25-2023 at 01:21 PM. |

So you give them a link like http://huberxxx.freemyip.com/pictures.zip and that works for them? |

I would have thought that “unzipping” and “filing” is not an easy task. But if it works, it works. Do not ask unnecessary questions. This can be done on a Raspberry Pi. Probably no problem. I will do some “research” (ahum) tomorrow. It might be even easier than I can think of now. |
