Currently watching the film As Above, So Below. I thought I had seen it years ago, but I hadn’t rated it on IMDB. Now I remember I started it, but didn’t finish it because it freaked me out. Films rarely freak me out enough for me to stop watching. I was on vacation and on my own in an apartment.
Let’s see if I can finish it tonight. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Just finished streaming all seasons of 'The Mentalist' which I missed when it was first shown on our regional TV stations. I liked it, but like all long(ish) running series, I felt it lost some of its impact along the way.

I just finished watching BBC’s Ghostwatch. It’s been a while since I last watched it. I would have liked it to be longer. I’m now watching a documentary on YouTube about it. Apparently the writer first wrote it as a six part series.

Currently working my way through 'The Brokenwood Mysteries' a crime show set in a fictional New Zealand town. Like 'Midsommer Murders' its gentle, easy viewing that hardly strains your mental powers, with a likeable team of detectives.

My wife and I laughed our way through Red Notice yesterday - the 3 leads seemed to be having a lot of fun, and that made the simple heist flick a lighthearted timepass. Reynolds's character confusing the 2 Attenborough brothers at a critical moment was literally laugh out loud funny for us.

After work I'm going to my sister until tomorrow evening. We've been watching Doom Patrol season 3 and Foundation together and we only have one episode of Doom Patrol and four of Foundation left to watch. If we have time we want to start with Wheel of Time.
Because of the pandemic whenever the government tightens the rules about working from home I regularly go to her for one or two nights during the weekend. We first started watching films or short series. But since the release of The Stand we usually have one or two series we watch together over several weekends. I'm really enjoying this and hopefully it'll continue after the pandemic. |

Started watching 'The Beatles: Get Back' , the footage from the 'Let it Be' sessions that has been buried for fifty years, and now restored in three two hour chunks by Peter Jackson.
I am a massive Beatles fan, but as I expected, this is disappointing stuff. Mainly poor quality shots of the band just sitting around squabbling and bickering. It may be an 'historical artifact' of a kind, but even as a fan, I found it invredibly dull and boring! The 'restoration' had caused waves online too; clean, bright images, but they cannot disguise the fact that here were a band of musicians, who were largely at odds with each other,as internal and external pressures drove them apart. |

I got the 99 cent deals on Prime for Britbox and PBS Masterpiece, so lots of new stuff to check out. So far watched latest season of two of my favorites, Shetland and Line of Duty. Next up will be either Silent Witness S23 or the 3 seasons of Ashes to Ashes.

Reappraisal of my earlier post: The Beatles Get Back, is a superb piece of work for anyone who is/was a Beatles fan. Slow start (which I think put me off in the first place!) but once it gets going, absolutely brilliant! To see Paul thumping his bass guitar and humming pointlessly, and then watch as the song 'Get Back' grows from that; George and Ringo are on hand to help him flesh out the tune
(Lennon is absent at that moment) and it is 'born' already half-formed! John and Paul singing 'Two of Us' while grinning like cheshire cats, with clenched teeth throughout; a masterly piece of music/pantomime! If you can see it, I urge you to do so. |

When I stayed at my sister last time we started Wheel of Time, we both loved it. During the weekend of New Year's Eve I'm going to stay with her again and we'll continue.
Otherwise I'm at a loss what I want to watch. Nothing can hold my interest at the moment. I tried the second season of Locke & Key, but that wasn't it (thought the first season was okay). I've been watching some movies, using a randomizer app to choose which one to watch. Tonight I might start another rewatch of one of my favourite paranormal shows. Some have new seasons coming this month or in January. |

Took a break from my Vera watching and binged 2 seasons of Dead to Me - an absolutely hilarious dark sick comedy with so many unexpected plot twists you don't see them coming. Fast moving and more profanity than on The Sopranos. An absolute delight - Christina Applegate gives the performance of her life.
Can't wait for season 3 - supposed to air in 2022. |

Watched 'Venom 2' last night. If you liked the first one, this (IMO) is even better. Comic book action with tongues firmly in cheeks!

Slowly working through the 99 cent PBS & Britbox subscriptions. Too much left to see everything in my remaining 2 weeks so hope they do the 99 cent deal again next year...
Halifax Retribution - good Aussie miniseries, 2020 followup to an older TV series. Unforgotten - good final season Paris Murders S3 - worth watching just for the Chloe character but very dark ending Baptiste S2 - still a good series but IMO dwells too much on personal problems that don't contribute much to the story Dresden Detectives - a decent German series Amsterdam Undercover - German undercover cop in Amsterdam - A bit uneven but overall not bad Ashes to Ashes - OK sequel to Life on Mars The Long Call - decent Ann Cleeves story Traces - nice Scottish mystery Exile - interesting cold case with John Simm, Olivia Colman The Cliff S2 - Pretty good series (Iceland) Grace - Another good John Simm series all the sins - OK Finnish series The Bay - decent series set on coast near Manchester |

Approaching the end of the full run of a series called 'Scorpion'. It was suggested to me by an old pal, and is good fun. A team of geniuses (Genii?) who solve problems for the US Government. Think MacGyver but with five people!
