Got my Oasis 2 a few days ago. Wasn't there supposed to be an option for night reading that inverses black and white colours?

I was chatting with my friend in England and he just took a picture of his new Oasis for me. Same thing as mine. I didn't doubt they were all like this, and I'm pretty much sure of it now.

Got my new Oasis last night
The screen is beautiful with even lighting and no pinhole lights visible on the screen. Both of my Voyages started out with a couple of tiny pinhole size lights, and the replacements that were sent had more.

The screen size appears to make a big difference compared to both of my Voyages. Although the font boldness adjustment has made the Voyages more readable without going to a larger size font.

The real buttons on the new Oasis seem more intuitive to me than the Voyages touch buttons. The Voyage sometimes doesn't turn a page at the press of the button.

I am glad the Oasis buttons are programmable, so I could set them to match where the Voyage ones are placed.

Overall, I'm exceptionally pleased with my new Oasis.

The cover is a different story. The magnets seem too weak. The Oasis has already fallen out twice (luckily just on my desktop). The prop stand started out too stiff, but now it doesn't seem sturdy. So the cover may go back. $60 for the leather cover is too much for it not to be perfect.

So that's 116g for the waterproof case and 124g for the leather. Not much in it at all, thought the leather would be heavier.

I got my hands on my 32GB 3G model today.

Impressions
  • Feels great and comfortable in the hand, the clicky physical buttons are so much better than my Voyage.
  • Screen light is SO much improved. No dark patches or cones of dark or light and no colour patches. Mine is almost perfect, if I look hard enough I can notice that the right, especially lower right is very very slightly brighter. It's more obvious at the middle setting range and seems to disappear at higher brightness levels.
  • Larger screen size is a great upgrade.
  • Page turns are blazingly fast now, that upgraded processor makes a big difference.
  • Night mode is fantastic.
  • Charging is a lot faster.

I was just about to cancel my WiFi 32GB model from Amazon when I received a dispatched email, it's due to arrive on Monday. I assume it's been sourced and coming from another country. I was going to cancel it, but it's become a bit of a thing with me every Kindle release to seek out the perfect screen.

To be honest though the screen is brilliant, especially compared to the previous models. I wouldn't actively order another one if Amazon hadn't already dispatched me a second one.

Here's my screen, softer and more yellow than my Voyage screen but I like it.
Bookerly size 5, bold 1. Lights on 14. The room is lit by a floor lamp, no overhead light.
