I only bought Seven Minutes In Heaven by Eloisa James using a HQ code.

I'm reading a paperback/ebook. I checked it out from the library because you can't read a real book in the dark. A very nice lady who owns a bookstore sent me a box of books so I'm reading Gayle Callen's Never Trust a Scoundrel.

I hope Kobo sends me a good coupon so I can get Rainbow Promise by Candace Camp that was released on the 6th.

Yes. All of her Justine Dare titles have now been released digitally except the novella she wrote for the Stocking Full of Joy anthology.

She also released 4 more of her early Silhoette books, though there's still a number of them that have yet to be released.

Lesson learned: Do not download epub from Harlequin's site into the Overdrive app. You will not be able to later download it into ADE. You will be stuck with reading on Overdrive's app. Sometimes I really hate DRM and Windows 10 changing my defaults.

Needless to say I went to download Seven Minutes In Heaven to only have my ascm file hijacked by Overdrive's app. *grumbles*

Can you try right-clicking on the ASCM file and choosing ADE?

Sounds like maybe you have your OD app set up with an OverDrive account instead of using your Adobe ID with it? I know I had something similar happen with a library book when OD had fooled me into thinking I needed an OD account for their app instead of just my regular Adobe ID. Of course that was a couple of years ago, I don't even know if they have a separate OD account vs Adobe ID thing anymore.

Yes you get a license error because Overdrive had already claimed it.

I went back to the desktop version the app version is too risky. I only use it for audiobooks I didn't even know it could handle ebooks. The app that grabbed my book you have to log in with your Overdrive account to set it up. The desktop one only does audio.

I'm very excited to get this on sale! I loved the first book in the series.

With Samhain closing most of their retro romance is under $2. $2.50 seems to be the highest. This is only from their site. If you were waiting for them to go on sale then now's the time. Alot of $1 books.

Not that I can take advantage of it but it's a great deal and the authors are still getting paid for the books.

So the book I've been reading turns out it's a spin off series. I got to 50% in and the h/h decides to visit a couple from a previous book. So I stopped but then read a few more pages that was gave several spoilers then as I'm trying to get past this part a huge spoiler comes up and I close the book before I could read it.

Now before I started this book I checked the author's site, several places and not once anywhere did it mentioned this was connected to another series.

Why do authors do this? A note, a disclaimer something to alert me but nothing.

So now I'm on book one which is 6 books behind the one I was reading. A little frustrating to say the least.

Most authors usually claim every book can be read as a stand-alone.

They don't always understand those of use who need to read in order.

Though to be fair, there are many books that probably do read just fine as stand-alones when they are part of a characters-only connected series without overarching plotlines.

I have been trying to let that go to at least read books by my autobuy authors who contribute to multi-author series. But that's about as far as I've been able to retrain myself
