Anyone received the October 3rd firmware update yet?

I find it strange that the device uses power when nothing is enabled; the old KPW1 drops much slower.
True it is odd. But at the end of the day if the screen is off we don't really know what is active and what is not.

I'm going to Munich for a three days in an hour and for the first time ever I have to bring a charger for my reader. It really is an at-home only device and I'm not sure why they even bothered putting a battery into it.

My experience with the battery so far is great except one occurrence. I put it to sleep before I went to bed and it drained from 95% to 4% in about 4 hours while I was sleeping. There was a sync error on the screen when I woke up that said something along the lines of battery too low to complete sync. I've had the device for just shy of one month now and only had this happen once.

That's one of the reasons Kobo announced a firmware update for yesterday, which can take up to 24 hours to roll out for everyone.

Are you sure it has been released? Has anyone received it?

C'est la question. Someone started a new "Firmware" thread earlier today, and no sign there either of anyone receiving it yet.

We only have the word of one CS representative that the firmware update was due on the 3rd.

We know a 4.1 release is imminent only because folks on the forum say so, Kobo has not released any official details and the only objective evidence we have of the existance of 4.1 is that the latest version of Calibre supports it (so it must exist, at elast in beta form)

It's almost been a month since I bought my KA1, and so my return window is rapidly dwindling. I'm also waiting for a replacement because my KA1 has natural light issues. The replacement is taking its own sweet time to arrive, but I guess that's only to be expected because they are sold out of initial stocks.

TBH, while I love the size and convenience of the KA1, the hardware QC and buggy firmware have been somewhat frustrating.

If the replacement hardware is better than my first KA1, and Kobo fixes the battery issue (even if thats the only thing they fix) I plan on keeping my KA1, but if the replacement also has QC issues and the battery drains like it does now after 4.1, I think I will be returning the KA1 and sticking to my Kindles, which is a shame because I genuinely think the KA1 is a gamechanger.

My impressions of the KA1 are here

I've had a Dutch language CS representative also confirm the October 3rd date to me in a chat without me telling him/her about it first... which could mean everyone took over the date from one CS representative with everyone taking it as gospel. Wouldn't be the first time such a thing occurred in a CS environment.

Everyone seems to think every Arura One owner will receive the new updated firmware almost at same time. I don't remember Kobo ever doing that. It is always slow update over weeks to minimise how many receive new bugs with new update.

Same with Amazon. Firmware updates are rolled out over a period of weeks, if not months.

Perhaps the poster who was told that the firmware was being released yesterday could ask for an update on the status of the release?

Nice draining experience just now. Battery was at around 70% when I stopped reading. After eight hours of sleeping mode, without Wi-Fi or any light sensors used, the percentage had dropped to 52.

Just got a reply from Kobo via chat. They said it was due to the time difference of the Netherlands with the rest of the world (!), and that it would take until no later than tomorrow. I obviously replied that the 24 hours had passed everywhere by now, to which they reiterated that the problem should really be solved by tomorrow. Things that make you go hmmmm....

This is a well known and documented time anomaly (Groundhog Day syndrome).
