What are your reading habits?

I installed a 3rd party cruise Computer (also did cruise control): Zemco Compucruise on a 1972 Winnebago Brave back in the 80's

If you installed on a Manual Transmission car, there was a 'drop out switch' chain that attached to each pedal instead of just the brake pedal. As long as there was tension (pedals fully released), the cruise control was permitted.
This did not fully prevent 'Lugging', but a Wide open throttle condition for very long, would result in it dropping out of cruise .

Manual cars do have cruise control. I can even give extra gas, which will cause my car to keep the cruise active but still go faster (so that when I release the pedal, my car will go decelerate to the right speed), ideal for overtaking. When I touch the brake or transmission pedal, the cruise is turned off. But like John F, I don't use the cruise a lot. People in front of me will continually change speed and thus I continually have to adjust my speed which is not why I have cruise

I prefer to use my speed limiter. Max speed is 80? I'll put it at 80. Whic means I can give gas as much as I want, but my car won't go faster (unless I put the pedal to the floor, which will overrule the limiter). If they go slower, I just release my gas pedal and I'll slow down as well. If they go faster, well, no problems then

sorry to drop in so late and without any relation to OP issue but just couldn't restrain myself .
I've read(~) "Atlas Shrugged" lately and think everybody should at least try to skip through it. It is a very poor literature (in my opinion of course!), some teenagers may find it good perhaps. I found it exasperating. But.
It is intense. Sometimes (seldom alas) so intense that it is almost good.
The main idea (simplified - you are only as much worth as your deeds and you should be judged upon them) is nothing one can disagree with - and this book really reminds one about it. At least I was reminded .

I must confess that from the middle of the book on I skipped all monologues of main characters longer then one page (some of them seemed to be 30-50 pages long).

John Galt's speech ran 60 pages in Hardback. My mom actually counted.
I am halfway through it. Way too much dialog for my taste.
