The jim.sh board, even when carefully packed, is slim enough for letter rates in the USA.
Other countries, other rules, and there is no indication of what country either of you reside in. |

wow, these things are really tiny. the picture on the jim.sh page is on a quarter, and I really didn't get the full effect because this image itself was not to scale.
The cardboard would mostly be to protect the usb header form getting knocked off, but the cheapest bags at microcenter are large, so I may just be able to fold that over and that would work. I'll double check with the USPS, but I clicked on the options to check the price for a letter with rigid contents, and it says "First class Stamped Envelope $0.70". So we'll call it $14 with the static bag I'll pick up on the way home, if that works for you. I haven't done any person-to-person money transfer in a while, I have a paypal, f that's still good. |

For anyone else reading the thread, I am trying to decide how many I want to keep. I can sell 1 more for sure, I might keep 3, 1 each of 1.8, 3.3 and 5V. |

Hey @Aroth, I sent it tuesday, and it shoudl be getting to you soon.
This is a reminder that board comes set to 3.3v. While I would not recommend you use it in that configuration on your kindle, I will tell you that my kindle has been tolerant of 3.3v. I make no guarantees that you will not burn out the serial port if you leave it set to that. The instructions on how to change it are here again ( and probably in the first post of this thread, along with the place to get 1.8v power ): http://jim.sh/ftx/#jumper-configuration |

knc1, do you happen to remember off-hand what size wire you used on your PW3 that you permanently installed the chip in? |

An do not be surprised if you find out that this nice step-by-step guide has been broken by Amazon/Lab126 with a completely new 'diags' system.
More, tomorrow. = = = = PS: You had better open your Kindle and look at the size of those connection points before you decide to use that electrician's soldering iron. You need a microscopic sized soldering iron. OR Take a look at the various 'no solder' ways of making the connections linked in the first post or two of this thread. |

edit: We are almost smack in the middle of the stretch of US-271 that runs from Paris to Tyler. Maybe a HAIR closer to Tyler. Quote:
As for the solder points, I've opened my device and looked at the points and was reasonably confident I can hit those pads with my iron until I pulled the thing out and saw the state of its tip. It has a fairly fine point on it, its just corroded and rusted from being stored in the workshop during all the rain the last two years. Were any of those "no solder" methods permanent? Because that is my goal, to leave the chip inside the casing for future use if needed. Last edited by Aroth; 08-10-2017 at 09:52 PM. |

Now as to that soldering iron, yes you want a very fine tip. Motherboards are tiny. |
