Are you aware that Muirwood is part of Kindle Worlds? This is a program by Amazon to support fan fiction. As described at Amazon, "Kindle Worlds is a publication platform where you choose a licensed World, read the Content Guidelines for that World, write your story, upload that story, create a cover, and click through a publishing agreement with Amazon Publishing." On his blog, Jeff Wheeler invites aspiring authors to write stories set in Muirwood. |

I'm doing well, so far. This month I finished 9 books and have read just over the average number of pages (compared the the last 4 years), which means I'm also on schedule to read more than 40000 pages.
In Februari I finished two themes from my list; I've read only books that are part of a series this month and I managed to read 5 crime novels. Which means that if I want to I can take a month off or I can save it in case I don't feel like finishing a theme. I do need to be careful with my themes challenge that I don't start with too many new series. I've got several on my possibility lists for the remaining themes. In March I've decided to go with the TV/Film theme. I'm starting with a reread of The Silence of the Lambs. |

As expected, I'm significantly over budget at present, thanks to having to spend expiring Amazon 'no rush shipping' credits.
£94.20 spent in Jan/Feb, with a budget of £40. I hope to come back under budget in July or August. But I have finished 46 books so far, which is up on the past few years, so that's good. [UPDATE: 47!] Last edited by pdurrant; 02-29-2016 at 02:23 PM. |

I don't have any side goals/challenges and so far I've read 26 books this year. Goodreads says I'm 11 books ahead of schedule, which I think is okay since last year I had a couple of months where I was 8 or 9 books behind schedule.
I'm reading a lot of shorter books because the longer book I would normally read is not one I'm excited about, so I switch to the shorter books that I normally only read at times when I'm less focused. (It's not a bad book; it's a compilation of short stories and I just find I'd rather continue a longer light-reading book than plod through a short story. ![]() |

Sometimes short story collections need to be read over a longer period of time. I'm thinking someone like Ha Jin where the character studies are very similar and taking some time away between each one helps one absorb each.

I won't be finishing another book today, so I'm going to go ahead and post my February statistics. I finished up February with 9 books, 3998 pages. I'm a couple of books behind now, but ahead in the number of pages. (My goals are 168 books, 50,000 pages.)
For my sub goals, I read only 1 book borrowed from Kindle Unimited, with a purchase value of $2, but I got the Audible along with it and that would have cost me $10.49. So I'm saying that I'm still getting value from my KU subscription. I didn't read any Newbery Award books this month. I have a few lined up for March. 1. The Boy with the Hidden Name by Skylar Dorset 2. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer 3. The Braque Connection by Estelle Ryan 4. The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald 5. Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey 6. Cress by Marissa Meyer 7. Thankless in Death by J. D. Robb 8. The Glassblower by Petra Durst-Benning 9. Storm Front by Jim Butcher Seven e-books, 1 audio book. 1 book from Kindle Unlimited. 5 Library books. Best books: The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend, Leviathan Wakes, and Storm Front. |

Things are chugging along pretty well. I'm way ahead on total read but just on track for my sub-goals, which tells me I need to add more of them to the mix or risk falling behind if my reading in general hits a snag. As in, I finished a book today for the first time in ten days. The quality (as perceived by me) has improved, although I suspect I've been a little generous in my ratings after an abysmal January.
That's why they're called challenges, eh? |

I've updated my list. I'm on book #13. Doing not too bad. Once I get more time, I'll be able to pick up the pace.

I'm well ahead of my target right now, but the next couple months will hella busy at work, so my reading will likely slow down soon.
