Bad news for the Kindle app users: I can't find a version that works with the NGP

Has anyone running other apps on their NGP noticed how their batteries are doing? Since I've run other apps I can barely get a day of use out of my NGP. For instance, it went from a 100% charge to 80% over five hours with the NGP sleeping.

Even before side-loading apps I noticed the battery life is not as good as on my NG.
After side-loading it doesn't seem like it became worse, but it's still early for me too tell.

However: it depends a lot on the apps that you installed. If there is one that's not optimized (properly) then it will use too much CPU thus using too much battery.
Your example suggests something like that. I'm not sure if we can look at power usage stats on the NGP. They would show the culprit. Alternatively you can uninstall all the apps, observe/confirm that the battery life went back to normal, and then start installing back the apps, one by one, observing changes to battery life.

New NGP update just installed on my device from B&N. Software Update 45.1.4. Now has support for Adobe DRM ePub and PDF files. Also, some unspecified bug fixes and performance improvements. The update did not touch the apps or launcher I installed.

In terms of battery life, I wonder how large the NGP's battery is, compared to the NG.

Weird. Maybe the update is just beginning to roll out, with some people getting it each day.

I didn't find the update on the B&N site this morning, either. Weird again.

I'm disappointed. No update here yet!

I still can't believe they didn't ship with ADE support in the initial release. Sigh.....

Has anybody tried Aldiko on this?

Also, can the user flip the screen upside-down, i.e. rotate 180? (It's a crucial requirement for some of us...)

The NGP itself doesn't seem to allow orientation change.
But if a side-loaded up does it works properly (I use FBReader for that).

But what would be a use case scenario for a 180 rotation ?

Most of my book reading is done in bed. I lie on my side, and alternate from one side to the other.

With a rigid book-like case on the e-reader, I fold the cover back to prop up the e-reader (like the 2 sides of a simple tent). That way I don't have to hold it, I just touch it to change pages.

Without 180 rotation, this works while lying on one side but not the other. Having 180 rotation provides an ambidextrous tent.

If anybody happens to try aldiko reader on this thing, I'd appreciate knowing if it works.

Same thing re: Ultimate Rotation Control or any similar app. Does this device know which way is up?

On the Glowlight Plus I can't seem to get sideloaded items to show up in Books, Magazines, Newspapers, etc. - they only show up in the "My Files" dropdown in the library.

On my previous Glowlight, I could create subdirectories named "Books", "Newspapers", etc. and they would show up in the library as such. This was VERY handy for sideloading Calibre recipe EPUBs so that they would show up as Newspapers...

Anyone else notice this?
