One interesting tip:

Amazon's search feature is limited, but by understanding how to work the URL address, you can find exactly what you're looking for. To illustrate this, consider the following address: http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/?nod...01&pct-off=50-.

Don't be intimidated-this process is much simpler than you think. There are three basic parts here.

The first is called the "foundation" (www.amazon.com/gp/search/), and it doesn't change.
Next is the "node number" (?node=). The node number is where you enter a code corresponding to a certain department. In this example we have ?node=11091801, which will return search results related to musical instruments.

The third and most important part is the "percent off" (&pct-off=) piece. If you set this to &pct-off=50-, the page will search exclusively for deals offering 50 percent off or better. You can also provide a range, like &pct-off=25-50. This will provide deals anywhere from 25 percent to 50 percent off.

Putting all of these together, the URL http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/?nod...01&pct-off=50- will give you musical instruments at 50 percent off or better.

Pretty useless tip as it includes marketplace sellers. Amazon has no way to filter to just their items.

If you look at the source, it also has this:

&emi=ATVPDKIKX0DER will provide search results ONLY for items available directly through amazon. These are typically items that qualify for amazon prime as well.

I just tried it and it brought back only things sold by Amazon. I first did a search for "cat carrier" in pet supplies. I then added &emi=ATVPDKIKX0DER to the end of the url and it brought back only those sold by Amazon. Is this different than what you did and got back? I didn't check everything, but it did reduce the number of results from 11415 to 944.

I guess it helps a bit for categories like that, but I figured people in forums like these would probably use Amazon more for books, movies, and music. Here those search tips don't really help at all because almost everything Amazon sells in those categories have marketplace sellers selling them for a penny.

I ended up just buying an eSATA to SATA cable I had on my wishlist as something I'd kind of like to have, and a 2 way cable splitter since I remembered I needed one to get some $3 slow shipping credits. Amazon just shipped the cable today separately, so looks like I'll get both credits. This will give me enough credits for an e-book I've been wanting for a while. (Thing absolutely never goes on sale.)

Amazon informed me today that I have indeed received $18.00 in digital credits. So I'd have to say that Prime Day was good for me.

I ended up just using the "bulk discounts" - the $20 off $100 purchase (of consumable stuff I use all the time), the gift card deal (ebooks, woo-hoo), the deal on health and beauty products (hello, vitamins) and the Kindle Unlimited (which I had been meaning to try). Never found any deals on any specific sale items that were of interest.

Now, of course, Amazon has screwed up the delivery on some of my items - I opened a box addressed to me, and it had several things in it I had not ordered, and it was missing the things I had ordered. Although Amazon was very cooperative, and is sending replacements via overnight delivery, it took about 30 minutes on the phone to get it straightened out, so in the end I'm not sure how much the deals were really worth vs. my time. Sigh!

I guess it's not too strange that after a days with "record sales", they would goof up some deliveries, but still sort of a bummer.

Sorry to hear that your order got messed up Sufue , I can imagine that it must have happened to more people on Prime Day too.

As for me, I kept thinking Prime Day was going to be like Black Friday deals, so I ended up not buying anything. Next year I'll pay more attention to the shipping credits offer, and everyday items. I think those were probably the best deals.

Well I got my $6 in credits, went to buy that book and... discover it's been added to the Prime lending library, so I can read it for free. Now to find something else to use them on. (I don't want it badly enough to own it, just reading it is fine.)

This is a nice problem to have though, so I'm not complaining.
