Not a great deal, but for those on limited budgets it might be useful. Amazon sent me an E-mail with a promo for buying any Kindle Fire tablet for five equal payments, with no interest charges. The link in the E-mail amusingly doesn't work (goes to a page saying this promotion isn't active), but visiting each of the tablet pages shows the option to buy in installments on the right along with the one time payment option. Prices are (at least for me):

• Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" ($85.80/mo. ($429.00 / 5 mo.))
• Kindle Fire HDX 7" (From $35.80/mo. ($179.00 / 5 mo.) for lowest model)

Probably not then, since this is the first time I've seen it since Christmas time. Really wonder how they pick who to send these things to.

I'm a bit tempted by this and the HDX 8.9", as I'd like having a faster large tablet. (And spreading the price out over five months would make it much more doable for me financially.) But it looks like getting CyanogenMod on it would be difficult to impossible, so that really puts me off. Probably won't bother.

Mystery to me as to how they choose. It's like that offer for the HD 6 a week ago. Not only did Amazon target certain individuals for the offer (leaving others out), but they offered different discounts of $30 off, $50 off, $70 off.

Also keep in mind that new devices will be released in about 3 months with sales to clear out old stock; and then the following month is Black Friday with even better discounts.

Today (7/20/2015) only, Meh.com has the latest version of the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" Wi-Fi, 16 GB with Special Offers for $279. This is new, not refurbished.

Meh.com is a deal-of-the-day site started by the guy who started Woot.com before they were acquired by Amazon. They've got the same silly sense of humor as the old Woot.com. I've ordered from them before and been happy with my purchases.

Thanks, I missed it (and honestly couldn't afford that much at once right now anyway), but I didn't know about Meh.com. Glad to have that to check regularly. I liked Woot's deals better before Amazon bought them.

They're not all bad, I have see some things I considered buying (but decided I didn't need them and would rather save money), but it's got way too many Dyson vacuum cleaners now. It's like every week there's another one on sale on Woot.
