Thanks guys. Yes it is a shame and probably bad luck but to exchange it would be such fuss and time consuming that is not worth it - the shop where I bought it from is not exactly known to be customer friendly. It is also possible they have a whole batch of those covers.

IF I fold it so that the corners are not lined up but misaligned by 1 cm it doesn't turn the reader off. But I NEVER use the cover this way anyway. So I wonder if it makes sense to go through hassle to get a working cover with a feature I will not use.

Would it not be feasible to fix it the same way I fixed the Gecko cover, by putting a small piece of metal behind the Kobo in the case, so it shields the folded-back magnet? That worked absolutely fine for me. It has to be a ferromagnetic metal, such as steel: I cut out a rectangle from the lid of a soup tin, and that worked beautifully. Wrap it in something soft, so it doesn't scratch the back of the Kobo.

Thanks Harry. It is worth considering of course - only I wonder about one thing. Kobo sleepcover is molded to fit exactly to the back of ereader so even a thin piece of metal may cause it to be uneven in the case. Perhaps. Gecko cover is designed in a different way.

Yes, that would make it more difficult. The Gecko case isn't molded - it's just flat.

I wonder if the fake-leather material can be cut with an exacto knife and still have the same edge surface texture.

I just received a replacement cover from Gecko as well. It wasn't out of the blue because I had notified them of them problem and they told me they'd send a replacement. It wasn't a serious enough problem that I would have returned the cover but I'm very pleased they sent a replacement and it works perfectly. I'd highly recommend Gecko and I'll definitely buy from them again in the future.

I've seen the product video of the gecko cover. It's basically the same as my Kindle cover. However, the Kindle cover has a flap on the left, which folds beneath the Kindle, and sticks to the cover's inside with Velcro, preventing the reader from slipping out.

The Gecko cover does not have this flap. Does the reader stay put, without wanting to slide out all the time? (Yes, I'm once again considering to try a Kobo, as the Voyage is just a KPW++ to me: I don't need the screen to be even sharper, and I don't need any of the new software features.)

I don't have that issue with my Kobo H2O sleepcover; in fact, I'd go so far as to say I have the opposite issue in that the magnet in my sleepcover seems weaker than it should be! But it's enough to put the unit to sleep/wake it up.

I started wondering if after all I should not go back to that shop and at least ask. I still have the packaging and bill and it's not far...

I do not experience this with the Kobo sleepcover either. Works very well.

I hope you have better luck than I, see below.

Initially yes, it's very tight. but after some time (at least with the two I've had, and note that I have a 6" Aura) it becomes loose and the reader can easily slip out (or get stuck just because of the power slider or SD card). See here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...11#post2911211

Like others, I have no complaint at all about the customer service or support, I got a replacement cover quickly and with minimal justification (they just asked for a picture), but I'd try a slimfit for the next one.

Crap. It seems I have a knack for spotting design errors all the time, preventing me to even try a Kobo product. Now I'd have to go and see if I can find a cover that has a flap+Velcro keeping the reader inside before ordering the reade. I've been using my €10 Ebay Kindle cover for almost 2 years now. It's basically the same as the Gecko deluxe covers, but with that flap on the left, and a cutout for the logo (which I don't mind).

The Oberon Kindle Fire HD cover fits the H20 pretty nicely, FYI. Straps and side bumper are positioned correctly and the right length.

It is a little bit too tall for my liking, and has a hole in the back for the camera however.

I'll put some pix up if anyone wants to see.

Straps area no go. Those Oberons should have had a slim fit built in, like Klever Case has.

Gecko's going to have a Slimfit available for the H2O very soon - this has a snap-in shell holder for the reader, not straps or slip-in.
